I picked up Just a Taste because it was ranked high in the African American Erotica category. However, I was very disappointed.
Just a Taste, is made up of short, romantic vignettes. I label these stories as romantic because with the exception of one of the stories, there is no sex. In fact, in most of the stories we are only introduced to the male in all of the relationships as the reader is subjected into listening to each of their pussy-whipped asses whine and lament about their lovers who ain't giving them any.
There are probably many women who would love these stories, however, I found them unrealistic at best. Personally, I would never obsess over a woman who never gave me a taste (pun intended) and in her second breath demanded that I didn't see another woman. Really? I don't think so.
As I stated earlier, there was one story with sex but again I found the story too unrealistic to get into. Yet again, the male was obsessively lusting over to the point where he was standing before friends and family saying his vows with a raging hard on.
Really? Again, I don't think so.
I can't totally dismiss this book because the author is a skilled writer. However, I'm glad that she only served me with a taste because I would not have been able to handle a meal.
