Here's how you play:Post a band or singer. The next person has to listen to a song by theat artist.Explain if you like it, love it, or hate it. Then recommend another band or singer.
doesn't Three days Grace sing "Animal I have Become"? I ask because idk H.I.M. had a song called that too
No, I listened to "Animal I Have Become" and then recommended the band H.I.M.
Personally, I think that as long as someone uses asterisks, like she did the first time, then it's not such a big deal... That's just me, though.
I like this game too, so I was hoping to get it up and running again. Anyway, I think we left off at A Dream Too Late.
I listened to "Trendsetter" (and others) and was actually pretty impressed. For the most part, I liked what I heard.
Boys Like Girls
Love all of their songs! My favorite songs by them would have to be 'Me, You and My Medication' and 'Up Against the Wall'. They are pretty awesome. I can't wait until their next album 'Heavy Heart' comes out! I'm pumped.
Family Force 5
The only song I've taken to liking by Family Force Five is "Love Addict". I must admit this song is a number I feel like dancing to.... xD
(Ever since I found out how to use bold, italics, and underline I feel like going crazy with them.)
There For Tomorrow (I got a picture with the lead singer!! YAAYYYY!!)
:O how do you use bold, italics, and underline? I've been trying to figure it out and have had NO LUCK. lol.
See She a window flower, and he a winter breeze's post on the discussion "New Releases" at the bottom of the page. She can describe it better thank I can. =P
I listened to a few There For Tomorrow songs. I couldn't pin-point one that I liked more than the rest, mostly because they all sounded pretty similar to me. But I did like what I was listening to!
The only song I know by them is "Do You Want To." I have actually been meaning to look up more. Thanks for the reminder :].
Nightmare Of You
I like them a lot. Most of their songs are pretty great but one of my favorite songs is "40'" If you're looking for a good one, try that one out. "Ulysses", the single from their new album is awesome too. ;)
Nightmare Of You was pretty good. I liked "Ode To Serotonin." The upbeat tempo reminded me slightly of "There's A Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey You Just Haven't Thought Of It Yet" (God, has that title always been so long?!) by Panic At The Disco.
I used to have a the Gorillaz album "Demon Days" then I traded it in at the record store on accident! I am sad! I listened to "Dare" which has an odd, yet infectious sound. I liked it!
My parent's have The Room, and I really like Reptilla.
Gah...so many... I've always loved "Swing Life Away." It definitely shows their softer side, and I love it.
I listened to "Cold" and "The Unknown" by Crossfade, and I must say I did not like it at all. I tried to give them a chance but I just couldn't do it.
Isn't "Cold" the one that goes, "I never meant to be sooooo cold?"? I love that song especially acoustic.
"Monster Hospital" and "Patriarch On A Vespa" were pretty good. Kinda like a (much) softer Be Your Own Pet.
I've never really been a fan of The Raconteurs though I have nothing against them. Though I definitely like The White Stripes and Jack White. I adore "Solute Your Solution".
I listened to "Daisy" and "The Way We Talk". I thought they were alright. I'm not really sure if I liked the vocals or not..
Either Way. I guess I like it okay.
The Academy is...
Love 'em! Favorite song of mine = "Slow Down." But there are so many other good ones!
Never been a fan. I have a vinyl of theirs, but I don't like it very much.
I really liked "Mandala" and "Suspending Disbelief".
I listened to the song The Underdog. I wasn't really into it, but I loved the mexican dudes in the music video. Haha!
(I'd recommend "Don't Trust Me". It's one of their better songs)
That. song. makes. me. CRAZY! I'm not trying to insult your taste, but I think that that song is obnoxious and offensive. "Do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips"?!
I don't listento them reguarly or anything, I just like the song. It's got a catchy beat. Haha, it is obnoxious, but trust me, its pretty clean compared to some of their other songs.
I won't disagree that "Don't Trust Me" is in fact offensive, but I can't help but giggle and sing along.
Sure, sure, it is kinda catchy.
Do you mean 3OH!3? (You put the exclamation point in the wrong spot - sorry, I'm a bit picky as Nixie well knows XD.)
Everyone knows "Don't Trust Me" and to be quite truthful, that song is getting extremely annoying. Their voices and the style of their music is so obnoxious that I can't even stand it anymore. I'd much rather listen to something with meaningful lyrics and gentle guitars. (Gah, sorry - I kind of ranted there, didn't I? I apologize.)
Did I mention Fefe Dobson before? I love her :]. Check her out.
Haha, no worries, they are obnoxious. My friend introduced it to me, like a week ago, so i've been listening to that song for the past week. You have to admit though, the first few times you listen to it, the beat is catchy.
I listened to the song "Unforgiven". It wasn't too bad, just a little too 'hard' for my liking.
Iron & Wine(And please, try something other than the song from the Twilight soundtrack.)
I love Iron and Wine! My favorite songs by them are "House by The Sea", "Innocent bones", "Cinder and Smoke", I could go on and on.
Those are great ones! One of my favorites is "Boy With a Coin". Have you ever listened to their "Such Great Heights" from the movie Garden State? It is amazing! (Also, if you've never seen that movie, it is amazing. One of my all time favorites.) :D
I haven't seen that movie, or heard that particular song but i'll totally check into them both!
I feel like I'm being so negative, but I don't like OneRepublic either! I'd much rather listen to Silverstein's cover of "Apologize" than listen to the real thing.
Armor For Sleep
Don't worry, I agree with you on that one. =)
I listened to "Smile For The Cameras" and "My Saving Grace". They were pretty good...
My obession of the moment (in anticipation =D), though some may not like:
Cute Is What We Aim For -- I reccomend sticking to the album Rotation.
I've only heard their old album and LOVE it. So sad that they broke up. :C
Yeah, I was pretty bummed when I found out too. I don't like them that much anymore, though...
Um, I'm not sure, I've just kinda moved on from that type of music altogether. I mostly like more indie music now. But I haven't disregarded them entirely! I still like the occasional listen to bring me back to old times. (:
Love them. Their old album sucks. Their new album is awesome. So many catchy tunes!!! My favorites would have to be "Navigate Me," "Doctor," or "Hollywood."
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus (New album - check it out, it's awesome.)
"Pleads And Postcards" and "Represent" were good -- I tried the new album like you suggested.
Melissa Ferrick (something entirely different).
Definitely not my favorite. Her voice was iffy, but the instrumentals reminded me of KT Tunstall's music - and I do not like her music at all.
Understandable... Wasn't really something I envisioned you liking, but perhaps Maggie. =)
I actually did listen to her and liked it a lot. It sounds like some of the "older" stuff that I listen to. I really liked the song "Shatter Me".
I thought you might! :)
I don't know who that is. Sorry.
That's kind of the whole point... you're supposed to check 'em out and see if you like 'em. ;)
I don't like Cobra Starship at all. Never have.
Elbow. (Seriously, that's the name.)
Grounds for Divorce
Envy on the Coast
I'd listened to a few of their songs after a friend told me about them a while back, and then I ended up buying him the CD for his birthday. I liked "Mirrors" and "Green Eyes Don't Lie."
The Lonely Island (Hehe.)
Haha, a few of my friends are obsessed with them!! They're so hilarious! I adore Andy Samberg!
OMG, so glad you mentioned them. I got their CD for my birthday and, being a loyal SNL and Andy Samberg fan loved it! I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that isn;t ready to hear some more...mature comedy. I especially love "Sax Man", "Who Said We're Wack", and all of the other ones!
Fall Out Boy
Never been a fan... Everyone knows "Dance, Dance", "Thnks Fr The Mmrs" (I absolutely don't understand why they took out the vowels so, just to make fun of it, whenever I say that song title I say specifically without vowels...hehe), "Sugar, We're Goin Down" and all those. The most tolerable for me is "20 Dollar Nose Bleed", specifically because of Brendon Urie's guest vocals. :)
The Shins. Forgive me if I already said them - I forget.
I've heard you talk about The Shins numerous times. So finally I listened to them. I like their indie sound, but I wasn't really impressed with their song "Australia". I can see their music as calming. I'd probably need to listen to a few more of The Shins' songs before I have a preference on their music.
The Hush Sound
I'm happy you at least gave them a listen! :) Yes, definitely calming. It's more of a get-to-sleep band for me, rather than a dance-around-to band. Haha.
I love singing along to "Lighthouse." It's definitely my favorite song by The Hush Sound next to "Not Your Concern."
Ill Scarlett (A friend told me about them. I don't care for them too much, do you?)
Ugh, I listened to "Rally" and "Heaters" and didn't like either.
Yucky... XD. I like the intrumentals...but when the guy started singing...well...I wanted to throw a plastic bag over his head hehe.
Tilly and the Wall (One of my absolute favorite bands - they have a drummer in some songs, but most of the time they are accompanied by one of the girls that tap dances. They make me so happy inside *SQUEE*. *Grins sheepishly*...I'm weird about sharing music that I love to death, but I feel that it's time - I've been putting it off for months XD.)
I absolutely LOVE Tilly and the Wall. I don't think I know anyone else besides you now that listens to them..
Their sound is so quirky...it's pretty much essential to fall in love with it.
I gave Tilly and the Wall a listen. I listened to "Reckless" and "Patience, Babe." They were alright, their music had a fun upbeat sound to it. Though Tilly and the Wall weren't quite my thing. You know the feeling when you listen to new music and something just clicks? I didn't feel that. Anyway, o-kay but not near my favorite.
I listened to "Attention" and "Consoler of the Lonely". They were okay.
Favorite song by them is definitely "Hush." Close runners-up are "I Notice" and "Parker."
I haven't really tried anything new from this thread, but I figured I would try Jamies Elsewhere and am really glad I did. I only listened to two but they were right up my alley, thanks!
The Art of Dying
I listen to "Right Now" which was actually really good.
My favorite song EVER is by Breaking Benjamin. "Rain" will forever remain my love.
I just want to say I ADORE Breaking Benjamin!!!!! One of the BEST bands ever!!!! That's all.....I'll put Emily's singer at the bottom of mine.
I listened to "Jessica" and "Time After Time" by Elliot Minor. I wasn't a fan, I honestly didn't think the lead singer had much vocal talent. The songs just weren't very catchy. =P
Cage The Elephant
I listened to them about a week ago, and they were a wee bit different. They were okay.
I Am Ghost (Don't remember if I mentioned them...)
That's the best part in my opinion! I've been searching for their album, but Amazon doesn't even have it. =(
I liked them a lot. They had a nice sound to 'em. I might have to get their CD.
Searching For Timothy (a local band that I recently saw)
??? Dont found of them sorry.
They have a Myspace page. They're unsigned so it is a little difficult.
eeghhh i dont like mcfly sorry ]_[
The Chase an english bandthat broke up buttheyre amazingyou haveto look them upon myspaceor youtube.
I didn't like them at all. Just not my style of music.
I can sing their whole "Coin Operated Boy" song word-for-word. I love them. :]
Rock Kills Kid [3
i love dream by rock kills kid ^^
Bat for lashes ^^
Horse and I, Daniel, Bat's Mouth, and The Wizard are some of my favorites.
Since I mentioned them in another thread:
Only some songs like "Top Ranking", but they are okay.
Death cab for cutie
Love them!! My favorite song is probably "Crooked Teeth," and even with its increased popularity I still love "I Will Possess Your Heart," specifically the non-radio-edit version with the 4-minute intro. :)
Cold War Kids
I know!!! Luv them too ;)
They're awesome! I love "We Looked Like Giants".
Miss Hannah! I never knew you were a Cold War Kids fan.. Of course, just like everyone else that has ever listened to them likes "Hang Me Up To Dry", I must agree. Some of my other favorites are "The Wedding", "Tell Me In The Morning", and "Passing the Hat". This guy that I dance with is doing a solo to "Saint John" and it is amazing! :D
Yes, I love 'em!! "Saint John" is one of my FAVORITES!!
I listened to "Ether". It was pretty good. Kinda like Death Cab For Cutie but a little bit more electric. Pretty.
We The Kings (I get to see them live!)
Hmm... my favorite We The Kings song is probably "This Is Our Town". Travis Clark says it's "the sexiest song We The Kings have ever writen", haha.
I listened to "Louie" and "Queen of the World". I must say, I really really liked it. Very fun and upbeat. Thanks Nixx!
Ra Ra Riot (A very new discovery of mine. I am totally in love with 'em! I recommend everyone check them out just for a new band to listen to.)
OK seriously people, they're not THAT bad of a band. ;)
Haha!! I listened to "Each Year" and "Can You Tell" and I liked both of them a lot. Definitely a band I could get into! :D Thanks, Maggie!!
I heard tiny spark and it remainds me a lot old styles such as the beatles (of course it is a POINT of comparasion, but anyway the song remains me...)It's not bad.
One of my favorite bands! I got to see them in concert last year, and they were great! They're CD Smash is one of my all-time favorite CDs, and Bad Habit (from said CD) is one of my all-time favorite songs!
OK, it's been two months so I'm posting a new band.
baby, it's fact
i love their song REV 22:20
Great band! Their new one I Will Not Bow isn't my favorite by them, but it's not bad. No Diary Of Jane, though. I think that one's my favorite by them.
I listened to a couple songs by them, and I must say, for it being a more "harsher" band, I didn't TOTALLY hate them. That type of music usually isn't my thing, but I didn't mind them that much.
Ooh, gotta love Arctic Monkeys!! I like a lot of the songs from Favourite Worst Nightmare and Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not and I only know "My Propeller" (but love it) from Humbug.
I listened to "All the Same to me", and then didnt they do a song for the New Moon soundtrack?
I listened to a couple different songs, and I just wasn't a fan.
Shiny Toy Guns
I'm listening to RICOCHET! and really like it.
Cute Is What We Aim For
Hmmm, back in the day when Cute is What We Aim For was one of my most-listened-to bands, favorite songs of mine were "Miss Sobriety," "The Curse Of Curves," (a popular one) and "Navigate Me."
Vampire Weekend (this has most likely been posted before, but I want to hear people's favorite from the new album!)
I was waiting for someone else to post about this, but it's been awhile so I'll go ahead. I completely love these guys. When I first bought their CD I wasn't a fan but after hearing everyone on this group continue to rave about the band (thanks for that!) I listened to it again...and again...and again. I ended up loving them. They're probably one of my favorite bands. I love all of their songs , but some that stand out in my mind right this second are Walcott, Oxford Comma, Campus, and Giving Up The Gun. *deep breath*
Meg and Dia
I don't know much of their music but I like their old single "Monster."
Band of Horses
LOVE "Our Swords."
Heyyy!! Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist! I really, really like "The Funeral" (and Liz Lee's cover).
Love these guys! I discovered them 2 Christmases ago when they were on the Zune I got as a sample band. I think my favorite song by them is "Is There A Ghost". I don't know why, but it just gives me chills.
Edward Sharp & The Magnetic Zeros
