Vote for best series of books
Started by Rowan has 1 day until Disney World, Tuesday, July 22 2008. Last post Friday, August 1 2008.

I am going to step out of my role as Harry Potter's secret advocate here and try to start some excitement.

My vote goes to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe - sheer fun and the movie wasted time and brain cells.

Not sure what makes a series. All of Cormak McCarthy's books have a connection, and I've read most of those. A great American writer!

I'd have to say The Twilight series though HP probably comes in second. I'm definitly not a person for romance and don't believe in love at first sight though Twilight is easily a page turner. Edward is mysterious and you never really know what will happen next as many times as you guess in your head. It's nothing gross-ish which I can't stand! So anyone who hasn't read the Twilight sereis better get to it!

I also really like the Death Note series but those are graphic novels so I'm not sure that counts.

What are they about? I'd like to read them if they are better than Twilight and HP.

Harry Potter and LOTR are two of my favorites. (It's not very original but there's a reason those books are so popular, IMO).

I'm going to say Harry Potter, because it re-energized youth reading. When it first came out, it was unheard of for youth to wait in line to get a copy of a book. It was unheard of that reading would cause such a stir! It really opened the door for other's series and turned kids onto the classics. My daughter loved it and has become an avid reader.

I enjoy the "In Death" series from JD Robb (nora roberts) and Maggie Shayne's witch & vampire series she puts out.

Haven't read any HP books yet so can't say any of those are my favorite....I'm sure I'm one of the only people who can say they haven't read them! I've seen all the movies though and actually have all the books to read so i can enjoy the movies more.
