Reading Orientalism
The late Edward Said wrote his seminal "Orientalism" in 1978 and it has since been translated into almost three dozen languages. There is a large literature on this book and the debate it engendered. My own contribution is "Reading Orientalism: Said and the Unsaid." The goal of my book was to frame the debate over Said's book after three decades and move beyond the polemic to pragmatic progress on better representation of people and cultures in the so-called "Orient." I would apprecaite any comments readers have on the book.
