    When should we meet?

Not sure how long we need to read this book... want to set up a chat or something interesting around the weekend of the 10th? A book every 2 weeks?

Or does one a month have a better chance at surviving?

I think 2 weeks is totally reasonable... I want to go grab this from the library today... but I'll probably have to get a new.. or renew my library card. I will try to grab it though.

2 weeks is perfectly fine. I will be on the lookout for this one as soon as I get back into Fankuvar.

Yeah, here's what I'm thinking so far. We give everyone ample time to read a book, accounting for everyone's busy schedule. The current session would end the weekend of April 10th. THEN we get freaky. Over a weekend or a week or two weeks we explore what an online book club such as this one with our infinite skill set could potentially be.

So maybe we're creating and publishing information models on each book?

Maybe we're building a community or standard or proposal to complement or take advantage of a core concept?

Maybe we're taking an afternoon to implement a concept from the book into our own lives or work flows?

Maybe we're splitting into 4 way video ichats to argue out parts of the book and then meeting for an 8 way audio chat for the larger group discussion?

      Too much? Thoughts?

I would say my choice out of that would be a combo of all of us discussing/debating the book and then building something small or at least concepting/comping up something to complement or take advantage of a core concept.

So, you mean, the weekend of May 10th.

So, by May 10th we will have read Technopoly, and be in a position to all come together and meet, mediated or not. At which point we will discuss the book. The goal of the discussion is to determine which core concepts have the most opportunity for to be realized as a * design artifact; information model, animation, web application, survey...

This all sounds good to me. I'm wary of the 2 week cycle, but I like the momentum it aims for. Lets just make sure we toss something fun into the mix every once and a while.

I think this book is fun.

Maybe Cory Doctorow's new young adult novel, Little Brother?

Who wants to go down to seattle with me for his book signings? he's spending 4 nights in seattle so it should be easy to make one.

What about 2 weeks to read starting the first of every month? Then we keep the artifacting well constrained and we've all got a week or so of off time before we start again? I guess we'll just see how this one goes and adjust accordingly?

Re: fun books, Musicophelia is probably custom made for Ryan B.
