Just finished mysteries by Laura Lippman and Susan W. Albert. Started mixing things up with a mystery, a western, a older mystery novel, some non-fiction, and whatever The Porch Page Turners (our bookclub) selects for the month. Have to confess on July 28 it will be my turn on the boards with our KY set mystery, "Sins of the Fathers" by Nash Black. Better get busy and read my own book, so I'll know what I'm talking about.

As usual, I'm reading a real mix of material--but the book I am opening this weekend and starting on is called "You Can Go Anywhere: From the Crossroads of the World" by Georgia Green Stamper. Two things from the back of her book jumped out at me. One was a comparison to Bailey White (saying she is to Kentucky what Bailey White is to Georgia). I'm a huge Bailey White fan. The other was a quote from Silas House that said her essays capture and preserve a place, a time, and its people. I adore Silas House's writing. So now I am really primed to read this book.

I've been reading a lot while on my month long vacation. I've read my first, but not my last Sue Grafton book: 'A' is for Alabai. If you are a fan of hers, there is a group here on Shelfari!

I've also read Blue Shoes and Happiness and The Good Husband of Zebra Drive both by Alexander McCall Smith and both from the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series.

I reread Tom Sawyer, Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, Lonseome Dove, and The Streets of Laredo both by Larry McMurtry. I'm putting those paperbacks on Paperback Book Swap now.

I also read Wuthering Heights and Pride and Prejudice both for the first time. I currently reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

I read some Young Adult books as well. It's been a busy reading and fishing summer. lol.
