    What If?

Saw this in another group and thought it would be fun here too with a twist.

What if you where stranded on a deserted island.
First list the top five books you would have to have by Kentucky or Appalacian Authors.

Second list the top five books by any author.

Good question :) Have to think on this. Hmmm.
    Any Author:
    1. Lonesome Dove- Larry McMurtry
    2. The Sands of Time - Sidney Sheldon
    3. A Time to Kill- John Grisham
    4. Green Eggs and Ham - Dr Seuss
    5. The Bible

    KY Authors:
    1. Man with a Bull Tongue Plow- Jesse Stuart
    2. The Kentuckians- Janince Holt Giles
    3. The Bean Trees- Barbara Kingsolver
    4. The Kingdom Within- Jesse Stuart (then I can remember many of his other books I read as a child!)
    5. The Memory Keeper's Daughter (since this might be the only chance I get to read this one- I keep putting it on the back burner, so to speak! :)

wow, you know this is a more difficult question than it first appears. i mean there are books that i really got a kick out of the first time through, but would i read them over and over? hmm, well love barbara kingsolver so she would qualify on both lists, but which books?

bean trees or pigs in heaven, maybe

    alice hoffman's turtle moon
and gloria naylor mama day or baileys cafe

which faulkner? hmmm, that has always been so tough

light in august, go down moses, sanctuary or wild palms

would i really be as enthralled with to kill a mockingbird if i had nothing else to read? probably.

Graham Greene but would it be the comedians, the power and the glory or the honorary counsel?

well, i have it to 5 authors, but not sure i could even stand with that...

    KY writers:
    Janice Holt Giles,
    Kingsolver,
Nusland, if we can give her up from being an Alabama writer:)

of the ones i know, these are the only KY writers i really like. probably would like more if i read more, but the other big name writers from KY are too pop for me....
