I don't think Sharyn McCrumb is a Kentucky author but she is a well known Appalachian author.

Thanks uplandpoet!

Speaking of Hunter S. Thompson, has anyone out there read the book, Gonzo, by Jann S Wenner & Corey Seymour? Johnny Depp, another Kentuckian, wrote the forward. It's about Hunter Thompson's life and is told through interviews with those that knew him. Sounds good.

I can add two more: Dianne Aprile and Byron Crawford. Does Lily Tomlin count too?!
|
|
 |
Did I miss John Ed Pearce? Sorry, it's late and I'm pooped! Hope all moms had a great mother's day!

Linda Bruckheimer (I think that's spelled correctly) is from Kentucky though lives in L.A. now and wrote Dreaming Southern. The main characters are from Kentucky and there are many mentions throughout.

I don't think I saw Diane Sawyer's name mentioned.

I've got to ask about a few others...The Judd ladies as well as Loretta Lynn all have authored books.

Me! ME! (Says the petite and very intimidated new kid in the back.) I'm a Kentucky author, recently transplanted (kicking and screaming) to Virginia. My first book, a memoir entitled TRESPASSERS WILL BE BAPTIZED: THE UNORDAINED MEMOIR OF A PREACHER'S DAUGHTER was released this month. I would love to talk with your group about it, or any other Kentucky lit. It would help mitigate my incredible homesickness, if only a little bit.
Check out my website at www.elizabethehancock.com. I'd like to meet you.
Warmly, Elizabeth

We forgive you for jumping ship and moving to VA, Elizabeth! I'm about to do the same, I think. Only I'm going to FL. I wintered there this past year. It's too much hassle keeping two homes up.
Thanks for sharing with us about your book.

I heard you on NPR the other day and recommended your book to my mother. I love the title. In your interview you said one thing that really stuck with me. Just write or you will loose the thought. Well that is a paraphrase. I look forward to reading it being a former preachers daughter myself.
