    Favorite Books for Rainy Days?

    · Wuthering Heights
    · Beatrix Potter
    · Lighthousekeeping
These are just a few of the ones that I like to read by an open window during spring showers. What about you?

I agree, Beatrix would be wonderful rainy day reading. Also anything by Jan Karan. Or some of my favorite childrens books ex. Mole Music by David McPhail or The Twin Princes by Tedd Arnold. Not only are the stories short but rich...so are the illustrations.

I think Jane Eyre is a wonderful rainy day book. I like Laurie King's Sherlock Holmes series like "The Beekeeper's Apprentice" for a rainy day.

I love reading the 44 Scotland Street series or the Isabel Dalhousie series by Alexander McCall Smith on a rainy day.

All those descriptions of Edinburgh make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

I have a friend visiting from England next month, I bet she's read them, I'll see if she can bring over one for me to read.

I like reading "girly" books, like "The Bride Stripped Bare" by Nikki Gemmel, "Shopgirl" by Steve Martin or an Anita Shreve novel. Something that isn't too taxing, but can still hold my interest, and makes me feel a little gooshy and slurpy inside. Mmm.

Jane Austen as well :)... I always think of the scene where Marianne walks in the rain.

I think some E. Forster, classic E.M Forster like Howard's End or Where Angels Fear to Tread. Personally i would read Room with a View to banish the rain or depending on my mood, I would wallow in some Gothic literature like Wuthering Heights.

I'm currently reading Villette by Charlotte Bronte and there's something about CB that seems perfect for rainy, overcast days.

Anything by Banana Yoshimoto. Preferably "Asleep" or "NP."
    Perhaps "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland."

Crime novels! Something with spies and preposterous situations- a bit of excitement to chase away the rainy day blues.
