    Reading outloud

Am I the only person who prefers to read outloud? If I am alone I read outloud almost unconsciously. I pace about the house reading, and it adds to the personality of the book. It gets loud in emotional portions too! :p

I like to read poetry and plays out loud. When I read a new idea, I like to read it out loud as well.

I read aloud to my high school students sometimes. They get completely wrapped up in it when I do. I enjoy doing voices and giving the words some character.

I enjoy reading aloud although, when it's someone else's work (especially poetry) I am always nervous that I won't do it justice. Then again, everyone is different so, reading something aloud and having it sound different than the next person only adds to the experiencing of hearing/telling stories/reading aloud.

I seldom read out loud alone, but when I was first dating my husband I used to read out loud to him. I remember we read Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead that way. Ah, the romance. =P

It helps sometimes in understanding what I don't during reading..
or to imagen how the real character would say something.

Poetry for certain, I love to hear read out pud--especially by the author, but it works better overall if you say poems out loud, I think.

Reading novels out loud wears me out personally, having read plenty to my children. However, we've been reading Mr. Popper's Penguins to our 7 year old, and that is fun!

my BF and I read some books aloud to each other. We're working our way through Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, and we just recently started 1421. We also read The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings to each other.
However I don't usually read aloud to myself unless I'm having difficulty following the passage/information.

Post by Heather M. was actually me. I forgot she was signed on. But, yeah. I enjoy reading aloud. And, like you, I get louder in the emotional parts.

    ...seams other people like (",)
Allows better understanding, amuses even when one feels like identifying oneself with word & ideas

Nowadays people read so much at work, different levels of interest and well written messages; sometimes eyes get tired yet hears do not. Then a nice voice reading you a good text/book would be definitely wonderful to hear...
...as long as leaving one the time and place to repeat the read words out loud : ) Thank U
