It's faster because I'm able to adjust the font size so it's easier. Also, light weight vs. DTB's and faster page turns makes it faster to read on an eReader device, an important difference if you have arthritis like I do!

I wouldn't say it's an important factor in whether I will read a paper book or one on my ereader - although I do enjoy the convenience that it seems to take less time to read.

If there was a way to read faster, I'd definitely be happy about it. I don't feel an e-reader has helped or hindered my speed any - - I just love the portability. But I read about 40 books a year, and if I could make that 50+, that would be super.

I read faster on an e-reader. Not sure why but I have noticed that I do.

I think I read faster on my Kindle than I do in a paper book. Sometimes, I think it would be nice to be able to speed read but really I read for enjoyment, so it shouldn't matter how fast I read - it's just that there are so many books I would like to read. However, reading shouldn't become a chore, so I don't make any reading lists and just enjoy what I am reading at the moment. When I have finished one book I will pick up another book I fancy and read that. That is one disadvantage I find with an e-reader, or at least with the kindle because I have no experience of the others, you can't really browse the books like you can on a book shelf. The covers of a paper book function as a visual reference and that is something I'm missing with the Kindle.

      jay,

As far as book covers are concerned, if you are talking about the books you have bought in ebook format, you can browse them in the Kindle cloud reader on your computer or the same app on your smart phone. I find this very helpul

Very true Peter but it would be nice if the Kindle would show the cover of your current book when you switch it off. This way, every time you pick it up you see the cover and then read the story. That way you associate the picture with the story, if you see what I mean?

Let's hope so, it's the only thing that I would like to see with my Kindle. Other than that I love it!

I too miss seeing the cover of the book each time I pick up my kindle. If I am reading on the Fire, I see the cover, but my kindle keyboard I don't get to see the cover. I know you can't judge w book by it's cover, but it nice to look at it.
