    Introduction

    Save Changes Cancel

Hi Ya'll Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. My name is Dee and just by luck I stumbled across Shelfari, so here I am. Thanks to the Twilight Saga, I found myself in desperate need of a "support group" to discuss these books in addition to other paranormal romances that are a bit more adult oriented. I loved Stephenie Meyer's series but when it was over I felt like I was suffering from a bad break up. In search of a "fix" I discovered that I'm a big fan of the paranormal romance genre. I'm always looking for recommendations and love to offer up my opinion. Not one that's really motivated by a deep story, I like to keep my reads full of romance, humor and of course, paranormal. From Vampires to Vixens, I'm addicted. With a husband and 2 teenagers, these stories are my "Escape"....( If you like Pina Coladas and getting caught in ther rain)....
lookin forward to hearing from ya'll.

Welcome, I just joined this group as well. I have to say I couldn't agree with you more about Twilight ! The series just takes hold of you, and as I have said before I didn't accomplish any housework while I was reading the books,(LOL)! By the way I love pina coladas, every mom needs a little break now and again with a good book and maybe a cocktail or two (LOL) !

What are you reading now? After Twilight I moped around a while before I hit the book store and found some great paranormal romance series that I dare say, I liked even better than Twilight ( only because they are more geared toward an adult audience) now I can't stop- As soon as I finish one series I'm off to the next one
I've found myself in the book isle at Target talking to complete strangers about Twilight , Brokenheart Vampires, Real Vampires, Sookie Stackhouse, & Queen Betsy-My husband thinks I need intervention- LOL

After Twilight I was scrambling to find something to read, I read The House Of Night series, I think the 7th book to that comes out in november. It was a good read but it didn't hold a candle to Twilight. I am currently reading The Mortal Instruments trilogy, at first I wasn't sure if I was going to be into it but now I can't put the books down. I can't wait to start the Sookie Stackhouse series, I've heard from so many that it's a great series. It's funny you read one and your craving your next book, after reading Twilight it sent off a frenzy in me LOL ! Intervention here we come ! I guess my husband is getting used to the fact that I'm either at the library or Target buying a new book LOL !

I read the House of Night Series after Twilight too!! I liked it- not as much as Twilight and I refuse to let my 13 yo dd ( darling daughter) read them - I thought the oral sex references were too much for her but I did let her read Twilight and she's in love with Edward ( lucky me) lol
I LOVE SOOKIE! You HAVE to read Sookie! Just STOP what you are doing right now, RUN! DO NOT WALK to the nearest book store and get them ALL- The first 8 are all available at Target (I luv Target)right now !!!(and in paperback)
unfortunately #9 Dead & Gone disappointed me * sigh*
but not enough for me to turn my back on Sookie!
I'm just hopeful that #9 was a fluke and Mrs. Harris will redeem herself with #10!!

It's funny that you say that your husband thinks you need intervention. That's exactly what my husband said as well when I didn't stop with Twilight. I finished it and then immediately needed more paranormal books. I've been debating on reading the Southern Vampire Series, but after hearing your recommendation I think I'm going to have to go get them. I'm about to start The Host which is also by Stephenie Meyer's but is aimed at adults. I've heard good things about it, just not gotten to it yet.

I tried to get into Host - but after just a couple of chapters I gave up, realizing I was still too hooked on Vampires to pursue any other avenue so I put it back on the shelf until I'm ready for it-
I have found some wonderful paranormal reads that have just been adding fuel to the fire-
I like the fun, sassy series- quick reads nothing that I have to think too much to get into, just something that causes just enough of an distraction to give me a "quick escape"
if this sounds like what you're looking for
      check out my shelf

Ashley - I loved the Host. I belong to a group called Paranormal Mystery and there's a lot of talk there about similar type books you might like. There has been a surge of them over the last 10 years. Love Kelly ARmstrong, Patricia Briggs, and Kim Harrison - to name a few. And, of course, the Sookie books are great. In fact, I just ordered Season 1 of True Blood 'cause I gotta see how they did with the books.

Hello, I just joined this group a few minutes ago. I found Shelfari through a Twilight podcast I listen to TST (Twilight Series Theories). I too love the series and have read all the books twice with the exception of Breaking Dawn. TST does a book of the month and I have read several of the books on their list, the most recent I'm currently reading is Graceling. I've found that I actually enjoy reading young adult fiction even though I'm in my mid 30's!! Don't get me wrong I still enjoy reading adult books as well, I'm also reading Pride and Prejudice, I have a bad habit of reading 2 books at a time.

Hi everyone, my name is Angela :) I love love the Twilight series! I have found that I am becoming a Twilight recruiter..lol. I recently got my MIL into the series. She absolutely loved it, too. Stephenie Meyers did a fantastic job writing these books. I find that when I ask someone if they've read Twilight (that has not), the first response I get is that they aren't into reading about vampires. This series is so much more than that. I believe it can be ranked with the classics. So anyways that is my intro. I look forward to discussing anything Twilight related with you :) Happy Reading!!

Hi! I just joined & thought I'd recommend a few books too! I am 28, married & a mother! I am not a big fan of major fantasy, but I love vampire romance! I haven't found anything close to the Twilight series as of yet. I have read a few books that are good reads, though.

One book that I have read that comes to a close second to my beloved Twilight is SHIVER by Maggie Stiefvater. It's about werewolves (well they are humans that turn into wolfs). Anyway it's a wonderful love story & the sequel, Linger comes out in July '10. It's a trilogy so the third book is being written right now. The movie rights for this book were just purchased by Warner Bros associates back around September.

Another book is HUSH HUSH by Becca Fitzpatrick. It's about fallen Angels. It's a pretty good story line & romance is always good.

Another good Fallen Angel book is FALLEN by Lauren Kate. It was good but almost too fantasy like for me. I still enjoyed it, but I'm not sure if I will like the next book in the series as much.

The last good book that I read was BEAUTIFUL CREATURES by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. This book is more about witchcraft, but is still really great! And it's about star crossed lovers given a second chance in a second life!

I have SHIVER on my list of books to read. It is taking forever to get it from the library....I guess everyone wants it, too. Thanks for the suggestions :)

That's also on my list, but I must admit that it is a bit lower...I have so many things that I want to read. My list seems to always get longer not shorter. Oh well.
