Special Screening of "In the Family" film in Philadelphia

Philadelphia FORCE, Co-Chaired by Rebecca Carr and Sandy Cohen, would like to welcome you to a Special Documentary Screening of

    IN THE FAMILY

Click on this link to see a sneak preview. http://inthefamily.kartemquin.com/. Then click on “Watch The Trailer” in the middle of the screen.

At 31, filmmaker Joanna Rudnick faces an impossible decision: undergo drastic preventative surgeries or risk incredible odds of developing cancer. Armed with a genetic test result that leaves her vulnerable and confused, she balances dreams of having her own children with the unnerving reality that she is risking her life by holding on to her fertility. Intensely personal and timely, In the Family discusses issues vital to families that have a genetic pre-disposition to breast or ovarian cancer.

Between 5-10% of all Breast Cancers are related to a genetic mutation passed down by a mother or father.
One out of every 40 Jews of Ashkenazi Heritage carries a mutation in the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene.
You will have an opportunity to ask questions of women in our community who carry the BRCA mutation, as well as a genetic counselor with expertise in this area.
