    Ovarian Cancer

Three years ago, my niece Liz died at 59 of Ovarian Cancer. Just after that I was diagnosed with the same. Our grandmother died from Woman's troubles. I have found that I carry the gene. This gene can be passed down through the female or men of the family.
    ***********************
    My *only* symptons were:
    * Abnormal post menopausal bleeding, -I had spotting for about 5 years, which doctors ignored.
    * Urgent need to urinate - about twice a week, I would get this urge, where I had to go NOW.
    * Abdominal pain, just in the last month, before diagnosis
Yet I was at stage 3c when the ovarian cancer was found. My oncologist said that any girls in the family with that gene should be tested with an ultra sound and CA-125 every 6 months.

Before Thanksgiving my CA-125 spiked to 88. I had company coming for the holidays, so the oncologist and I agreed to start Chemo again, the first week in January. Dec. 9 I had pains and went to the ER, where they removed my appendix. The surgeon said that it was on the verge or rupturing. It was full of cancer. By removing the appendix, it had brought my CA-125 down to 47. Things happen for a reason.

People are surprised to find that this gene can be passed down through the men in the family.
