Theology, in Christianity, the systematic study of the nature of God and God's relationship with humanity and with the world. Although other religions may be said to have theologies, this is a matter of controversy within, for instance, Judaism, which holds that God is unknowable. What is the gospel of Q and does it prove the Gospels are false?

"It is plain as a pikestaff that both our Matthew and Luke used practically all of Mark and followed his general order of events. For this reason Mark has been placed first on the pages where this Gospel appears at all. But another thing is equally clear and that is that both Matthew and Luke had another source in common because they each give practically identical matter for much that is not in Mark at all. This second common source for Matthew and Luke has been called Logia because it is chiefly discourses. It is sometimes referred to as "Q."2

The above quote from A.T. Robertson, one of the foremost Greek scholars of the 20th century, is a good reflection of the position of many scholars. It may be that there was a common source for Matthew and Luke, either Q or Mark, or a combination of both.

What is your opinion about Q?

Q stands for 'Quelle', the word for 'source' in German. This source was never found, but is often used to explain the many similarities between the 3 synoptic gospels. For me Q stands for the Holy Spirit. He is the Source and came to teach us all things.

Show me "Q" and I will be able to give an informed answer.

No one will be able to show you 'Q'. It only exisits in the minds of some theologians.

My answer was tongue-in-cheek.

That would be the case in all informed answers. That's better than don't confuse me with the facts.

I personally am of the opinion that the Q is a myth. Certainly those first hand accounts of the three synaptic writers are similar, but then one must realize that they were all unique witnesses of the same series of events. That explains the differences and similarities, not some mythic common earlier source. Those gospels were all written within two to three decades of the events and were written by the eye witnesses themselves - except Luke who used interviews with the original people. Of the four gospels, only Matthew and John were among the twelve inner circle of Jesus life ministry. Each of the gospels takes a unique view, however, and each correspond to elements prophecied by Ezekiel when he saw the four beasts and the wheel and all that.
