I am wearing this flowery item by Dolce and Gabana to please my dear husband who is now to old and weak to do any gardening himself.
Well, obviously no longer.

I had a wonderful feathered hat for Ascot this season, but I can't be seen in the same hat twice!

Vicki darling,
I shall be wearing the most divine turquoise silk dupioni suit, complete with matching cloche hat (meant to shield my face, of course, from all those prying papparazzi).
Fondest love,
Dixie

Mmm, you all sound like you'll be perfectly lovely.
Didn't we decide some time ago that Tinky's personal entourage was wearing coordinating outfits? Yellow? I want a pillbox hat or something else quite tiny and chic, and a simple shift dress that matches Gerald's vest. Adrian has already straightened and angle-cut my hair.

OH, yes we did talk about that, but I think I meant those marching up the aisle in the ceremony with me. I've asked the Bishops and Primates if they have yellow robes that would compliment my lavender and ermine, but they haven't returned my calls. So my dears, don't feel wedded to canary.

Mags - the haircut is fab; you look quite Diana Rigg-chic in "The Avengers" if Mrs. Peel was going to an investiture...do bring the lip gloss- it's working wonders!
Dixie, the ensemble sounds simply divoon. I'm having Philip (Treacy) whip me up a smart little hat that goes with the Chloe champagne-colored linen shift with matching bolero jacket I'll be wearing. Also I'll be wearing my champagne-colored Jimmy Choo Satin slingback sandals, and carrying my Lulu Guinness clutch (not room for much in that bag - but I'll also be bringing a small purse-shaped Stilton if anyone gets peckish during the ceremony, fyi...)
Mags, can you bring crackers? I can always count on Dixie to have flatware at the ready in her purse...

I'm torn, either something like Marianne Faithfull wore in The Girl on a Motorcycle or some sheer-ish shirt dress. Decisions, decisions!
Emily, dearest, we are certainly on the same wavelength - I was going to find a Shirley avatar from "The Apartment" - you beat me to it! :-) (I love this haircut on you) Oh, and go with the sheer-ish; it's going to be hot out.
And Fee, I neglected to mention how smashing you will look in the D&G!
If I figure it out, I will send you a photo of it later on. It's a nude color and just lovely. Now to find a hat and proper shoes.
Oh, see; now that sounds lovely! I always find that footwear that matches closely one's one skin tone makes the legs go on for DAYS! Possibly the hat could be the shout of color, with a complementing clutch...
Do check this out!!

This is my most heavenly fave purse/bag designer on the planet!! British, of course. (I - frighteningly - have about fifty of her pieces - mostly bought at her showroom sample sales - it's a disease...! Many museum-worthy...) The pound is too bloody strong!! (boo hoo hoo!)
Thanks for the tip. I thought I would try a shout of color on the toes but now you've got me thinking. The dress is a pearlized nude.
Now, I'm torn. Does orange scream tacky or promising? I found the most dazzling dress the other day at the back of my closet.

Here's a photo of the dress. It's Dior, darling. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y279/NrllAless/blog/news/fashion%20week%2007/christian_dior6.jpg What do you think? I have an Audrey-esque skintone, by the way.

Darlings, think designers, designers, designers -- Plum will be all over you on the red carpet about "Who you're wearing", mark my words.
If it is not too scandalous to wear a little something from a French designer for this event, I will be in a chic Christian Lacroix piece, but I won't reveal all the details until later. It may be along the lines as the costumes Lacroix designed for "Bérénice" by Racine or "Les Caprices de Marianne" by Alfred Musset.
Any other fans of haute couture coming to this event? If so, from which house will you wear? Do tell!

Lady Kibbles! Wonderful! Don't forget to put your name on the RSVP list (several threads back) -- I don't want you overlooked on the guest list by mistake!

My flowery piece from Dolce and Gabana is no more. At dear Duke's insistence I had been wearing it every day to remind him of his flower garden that he is no longer able to tend to himself. What with the constant dry cleaning the thing is now in tatters.
I am thinking of wearing this red dress. The peach ribbon would make me look like a present ready to be unwrapped (I feel that I have snatched this phrase from Plum's ex-simian jaws). Quite fitting, don't you think? In my situation?

Being new to the group, I appreciate this thread. Here I was, preparing to appear at the investiture in me birthday suit... dressed to the nines, you know. I would have at least worn my best hat.
Darling, welcome! I shall greet you properly in the welcome thread - do tell us all about your planned outfit...
And Fee - dearest - you will look ripping! When are you due again? Shall we have an ambulance at the ready?
And Bits, darling - I can't wait to hear more about the Lacroix! Those froggies sure can stitch!
Oh, very funny, Vicky... Hmm... Maybe I will look for another dress.
No, not necessarily - I think you'll be most fetching!
Em, orange might be glorious - describe your colouring - it might be quite flattering and it is a daytime affair, after all - does it fit you smashingly? Will it photograph well?

Thought I would give a preview of the hat I plan to wear to the investiture. The dress is a smashing above-the-knee, strapless bronze lamee with an emire waist. Perfect for this time of year... but now shoes... shoes... wherever will I find matching shoes????

Ravishing! (Maggie, do check - are we missing one of the swans?)

Emily, I am simply gaga over your dress!!! That's a very flattering shade for a somewhat pale brunette, you pretty thing, you, very warm and not scary in the least - the dress I mean, but you too, dearest!! I know you won't be scowling like the young and emaciated model pictured in need of a burrito or two - now you need a massive hat. Note how the pale shoes make the dress really pop.
Speaking of hats, do you adore Amanda's??
Amanda, I lurve lurve your chapeau! I would have suggested bronze lame gladiator flats with the above the knee dress but that hat cries out for very girly heels...possibly lucite wedges so as to not detact, colour-wise, from the amazing hat and dress? It wpould be edgy, mixing testures like that, but I picture you as a girl with a sense of adventure- you don't have to be matchy!

Fashion emergency. Should I wear the melon orange Dior (by John Galliano) or this lovely dark lavendar Vera Wang silk-faille dress? It has fancy sequins from the belt down the front of the dress and crystal embroidery on one shoulder. Decisions, decisions.

Oh, that's exquisite. Yes, indeed. And wear the lavender, it will compliment my robes.
Wowee, that's a pretty amazing tiara!! I think I however, am partial to the Dior - it's a gorgeous shade, has a flatttering decollletage; the other one sounds more evening-y. Then again, I am torn - jewel tones (like a rich dark lavender) are of course perfection for us brunettes. You could possibly bring both and change when you get to Tinky's Mayfair pad?? I do love a good costume change!

Just the sort of information one needs. Thank you so very much for settling that one. One would hate to clash. Although ecclesiastical purple would contrast the pagan orange in an interesting manner?

Whichever dress you decide (or both!) DO wear the tiara!!

This pink and purple number is not going to clash with Tinky's robes, I trust. I am going to |
