Have You Started Reading Vino Italiano?

If so, let us know what you think. I started it late last week, and I'm finding it's perfect before bed reading. The chapters start with really nice portraits of the region's culture (and wine culture), which hook you in. Soon, you've read the whole chapter, and can turn off the light and hit the next chapter/region tomorrow.

I have been enjoying it so far. My only concern is that it may be a little dated in at least some limited areas as it basically stops at 2004.

I just got the book yesterday, I read the first chapter on Friuli and wish I had read it earlier for WBW. It would have really helped to pick out at Friuli. Now I can explain why my 1st wine was good but not exciting. I like the books format quite a bit. It will be a great reference later on for me to return to.

I like the format, too. People keep saying it's so long--but actually, more than 200 pages of it are appendixes and indexes, so I hope people don't get too discouraged. I'm up to Liguria, and like the regional approach a lot.

I just got it from the library the other day. I had read bits of it years ago when a friend had it on his coffee table. I do like the way it intertwines wine, culture and food. The episodic aspects of the chapters is nice, too. I'll try the before-bed concept, Dr. D -- that's an excellent idea!
