Passion for Creating
Started by Carol M, Friday, February 8 2008. Last post 3 weeks ago.

What is your passion when creating? What do you Love to create? Why do you love to create it? What motivates your muse?

I find I am most inspired when making things for others as gifts, or RAK's. It makes me happy to imagine how they will feel when they get the item, and to add little details I know they will enjoy and appreciate :)

It is so nice when we know who we are creating for ~ giving of ourselves with out creation is an extra special delight. You might like to read my blog about "creating" ~ or not http://artmusedog.blogspot.com

My passion is: I just feel like making something! I love to create lots of things. I like cleaning out recycled cigarette boxes from an adult I know and decorating them! I don't know why I like to create things. I guess it's just an idea in my head that I want to take advantage of before I forget about it.

When I am creative I feel like I'm taken outside my everyday life. It's almost like time stops for a while. I feel energized and re-charged.

Right now, I enjoy creating small pieces -- art cards, altered book pages, dolls and shrines. I used to attempt bigger projects and sometimes my enthusiasm waned before I'd get done.

My longest love has been drawing, painting & collage. I've decided this past year I am not as good a seamstress as I used to be and focus my time now more on paper arts and assemblage.

I am inspired and motivated by many things. I love to use vintage/thrifted/salvaged elements and those often inspire what I make. My current drawing style is definitely inspired by cartoons and comic books --I've had a passion for them for most of my life.

My "create something" switch gets turned on when my mind's eye sees a relationship between a couple items -- like a book page and some old lace, or a pretty bead next to a feather. Sometimes I just sit and doodle, and those doodles expand into something more significant. I love to give art as a gift to a friend, and it's extra special when I know the elements I am using will please them.

Your creating style sounds very similiar to mine ~ I tend to like results rather than one long term project ~ I just finished a monotype workshop that has me interested right now & it is wide open to creativity & you can make small to medium pieces rather quickly ~ can use watercolor, wc crayons, pencils, water soluable oils & copy one of your drawings or stamp into it ~ on and on ~ So that is my latest adventure ~
