Artist Trading Card Group ~
Started by Carol M, Friday, January 18 2008. Last post Sunday, March 2 2008.

I am looking for an online Artist Trading Card Group that swaps hand drawn, painted, mixed media, collage cards ~ in other words a real creative group and not one that spends too much time chattin or sending poorly put together ATCs ~ Any ideas?
Hugs, Carol

EBAY has an ATC group. Also, do you know about WETCANVAS? They have an ACEO group at http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=363

There is a large group at http://www.art-cards.org/

Hope that gets you started.

Pam

If you find a swap hostess by the name of Red Dog Scott she always has the best swaps, and the art is always unbelievable. (I apologize I can't recall which group I found her on!!!)

Pam, thanks for sharing the wet canvas site, I haven't heard of that one yet!

Red Dog Scott is in the Artists of the Round Table group, and you're right. Her swaps are always amazing. I did a couple of ATC swaps on SCS and some of what I got I would definitely put in the category of "poorly put together ATCs". Most of the ATCs I got were things that one would expect to find on a card, like they made something the recipient could just add a layer to and then use it as a card element. When I make ATCs, I don't think in terms of how it would be used on a card. It's a standalone piece. I found myself trying to adapt my style to meet the expectations at SCS, so I don't swap there anymore.

Red Dog Scott, though, her swaps are incredible!

Not sure what your on-line swapping experience has been. So here are a few.

ATCards.com -- I usually check the gallery to see what the cards look like from other participants. You can sign up for group swaps or one-one-one. When you swap, the quality of returns can vary but some of the best in my collection have come this way. This is my referral link if you are not already a member.

Swap-bot.com: I actually enjoy swapping here (again, the quality can vary, but I've had some excellent returns.) I do check out other participants when I sign up for a swap and drop if I think there are too many chances for really poor returns.

I also swap on Flickr -- check the Original Artwork ATCs or the Artist Trading Cards pools. There are many different group photo pools. The great thing is that you can see pictures of the work others do, and make an educated decision about who you decide to swap with 1 on 1.

I also belong to a couple Yahoo groups...again, the key is whether you can see pictures of what people have done.

Just a note that the ATCscard.com site has closed. The active membership has pretty much relocated here:
