yes, a bit, enjoyed the different take from the 4 we all grew up with, still not buying his divinity, but the broader score gives a more 3 demisional look to christianity!
I recently read a novel that had as one of it's threads the history of the Gnostic gospels. I knew about them previously, but the history of them in this novel, made me think this: a lot of the people that Oprah has on her Super Soul Sunday series believe like the Gnostics that God is in all of us and that each of us takes our own path.
Some Gnostics believe this world is a mistake created by an insane god and that god is not the only god.
Sci Fi writer, Phillip Dick, reportedly had a Gnostic experience leading to Gnostic themes in many of his subsequent books.
The COPTIC GOSPEL OF THOMAS teaches that God is in all of us, but so does the old fashioned Gospel According to John: "He was that true light that lighteth everyone that cometh into the world." In the same chapter (chapter 1) John writes: "To as many as received him gave he the power to become the Sons of God." The Apostle Paul (Saint Paul) writes: "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to make himself equal to God." Paul also speaks of "Christ within you, the hope of glory."
Pam and Yves were our resindent Gnostic Gospel "experts."
End of last year I got into a once a week group study of the Gospel of Thomas. The leader picked a logion for us to ponder. I mainly cheated by comparing different online versions. LOL…but it was good to get out of my own head and see another point of view. This group also read Wisdom Jesus & Magdalene both by Cynthia Bourgeault.
