This is a toughie! I think I would have to go with Magneto because I like that most of the Marvel charcters he has a lot of layers. He is a villan but sometimes he is on a very thin line where you can side with him at times. I find him really interesting and fun to read.

Apocolypse by far, then Venom after. Apocolypse caused so much termoil in the lives of the X-Men and it was so tramatic and all that. It was epic.

I'm thinking Deadpool, but he's a mercenary, and therefore not technically a villain. Oh well....

    DEADPOOL!!

Gambit is a hero, NOT a villan

He started off as a thief, and was closely connected with Mr. Sinister, which I'd say makes him a villain. He also helped form the Marauders and led them on missions appointed by Mr. S. Later on he also become one of Apocalypse's 4 horsemen (Death). He also re-joined the Marauders later on and has jumped back and forth between being a good guy and a bad guy.

Of course, most know him as an x-man, which are good guys.

Which is why I made that small joke about him being a rogue, and if you check your dictionary you'll find that a rogue is defined as a mischievous person, a dishonest person, or a vagabond, and it's a joke because he loves Rogue also of the x-men (am I being too thorough?).

All this is why I gave an alternate favorite villain in Bullseye.

      Hope this clears things up.

but with him being a thief, that was a forced occupation which he grew good at. Mr. Sinister was a different matter, later on, he is revealed as his FATHER!

As of being Death, I don't think he thought through the consequenses of it and later was changed back into Remy LeBeau.

With him going back and fourth with the Marauders, if you recall in the Messiah CompleX, he saved the baby from being killed and wanted to kill Mystique for trying to use the baby to save Rogue.

Yes, he has had his struggles, but who hasn't? Wolverine was Apocolypse's Death for a while, Rogue started out as a villan, Mystique, Sabretooth... Pretty much everyone, even Professor X has had mistakes.

Yeah, my friends call me Rogue alllllll the time because I get into trouble, i'm mischievious, ocassionally dishonest... Ha, i'm a better Rogue then Rogue!!

So in my conclusion, Remy has gone through his rough patches, but cannot be classified as a villan or ever really being a villan. He just had a hard time as a child through young adult and it left it's mark.

(and not to mention he is reformed)

well, i'd argue that he wasn't forced to be a thief. he had a problem with his powers being out of control, he CHOSE to go to Mr. S, and CHOSE to agree with Mr. S' terms, and he CHOSE to carry out his requests.

None of what he did during his intro to Mr. S was forced on him. He decided to do bad things for his own selfish reasons, that's what villains do. They do things for their own selfish reasons without caring about the consequences. Hero's do heroic things because they understand the consequences of their actions. Remy is a lot of times, selfish. This is what makes him a villain.

Of course he does do things that are heroic, we all know of them. So that's why I say that he's kind of half half. But certainly during that time and during other parts in his history he has played the villain no question.

I think that overall you can't call him a hero because he's done bad things, and more than once, and for very poor reasons. Wolverine ALWAYS does the bad things for the greater good, can't say the same for gambit.

This is why I can call him a villain.

But you may call him a hero as well.

wolverine is an etierly different matter. and he was a killer for higher LONG before the x-men even existed. so he is arguable.

everyone in the x-men is arguable. yes, gambit hasn't always been the knight in shining armour, but he has proven himself more then not a good person. just very confussed.

there was a reason to him killing his adoptive brother tho. i happen to actually have the comic with the reason. his brother asked kurt to kill him if he ever went evil. he did so Kurt killed him like he asked.

if someone's killed someone else, they're a killer, there's no "well, he's not a killer because someone asked for it, or because they were going to be killed themselves so...self defense" if you've killed someone you're a killer. It's black and white son.

And wolverine is hardly a hero. He's more of an anti-hero. Just because they win the battle doesn't make them the hero.

anyways, I like the energy in this convo.

I still say that gambit has been a villain, and certainly wolverine is not a hero more so than he is an anti-hero (look it up if you don't know what an anti-hero is).

there is a difference between a killer and someone who killed a person. a killer is someone like ed geen, that man from wisconsin. everyone has darkness in their heart, you can't put that against someone because they have done bad. gambit is reformed, not a villan but a hero. he hunted down xavier just to save his life. that in my books is a hero son.

lol. ya I'll have to disagree with you on that. If you've killed someone, you're a killer. It doesn't matter how many or for what reason. If you've killed a lot or if you're good at it, or if you did it out of self defense, you're still a killer.

lol, so you're saying that If I killed someone, say I killed the president (or prime minister as I'm canadian) or say I killed i dunno, your mom, would you just say "oh don't worry about that, he's just got some darkness in his heart, he's fine."

And the point you're trying to make about being a hero is contradicting. you say that he did that one thing and for that one thing you consider him a hero, but in the previous sentence you're saying that "there's a difference between a killer and someone who killed a person."

so what you're saying is that one act of kindness deems someone a hero, but not a killer.

damn, I think YOU'VE got some darkness in your heart son.

so, all of the soldiers that protect you are bad people who are going to hell? without them, most of us would be dead. they protect us from all being killed, so they are bad people. no. they're heros.

not just that one thing, but many good things. he was almost killed in an effort to save the professor as well as almost getting himself killed to destroy the new son and save the entire world.

yes. i've got darkness in my heart. i saw my parents shoot eachother dead in a drunken fight when i was 6. i've got a darker heart then most people. i have an abusive father and a mother who hated me *adoptive ofcourse* i lost the only person who cared about me in my family to the war. i have no one. no team of heros to take me in, no professor to help me through my dark memories.

Ok. My point is that if you've killed someone, you're a killer. All those soldiers you're talking about....they're all KILLERS, as soon as they've killed one they're killers.

The 'bad guy' thing is debatable, I've maintained that gambit is a hard sell as a villain, but that at that point in his story, in my opinion, he was a villain. I've also said that I understand why people would think he's a hero. But based on what a villain is and what I feel makes up a villain, I consider him a villain.

as for the other part of your post. I'm sorry to hear that. I don't think that that applies to what we're talking about though.

I'm not going to post anymore on this topic, as we're just saying the same things back and forth now.
