Why lynching? Why now?
Apparently American culture has returned to the fold of rage. The symbol of hanging. A symbol of what has been done to countless African-Americans, a symbol which was used as the ultimate punishment for African-Americans has once again raised it's ugly head. Showing up in all the wrong places; college professor's offices in one case.
It makes alot of people angry. It makes alot of people sad.
It makes me wonder why all these sad and angry people haven't picked up a book to remember why this symbol is so iconic, remember the fear, the violence and racism that is a big part of the United States' foundation. Is it really shocking? Or is it simply a reminder of how far we have not come?
