    Perfumes

I'm still somewhat recovering from an allergic reaction to something airborne in the Gap Body store. That led me to thinking about scented items. That led me to thinking about my favorite scent store Bath and Bodyworks. Why is it my favorite scent store? It's one of the few places where I can go in and NOT have an allergic reaction ... most of the time.

That got me to thinking about the last time I was in that store. (Yes, yes ... I'll get to the point soon!) Another woman and I had the greatest time picking through the liquid soaps. We didn't know each other at all but found out that we had almost identical tastes in scents.

What type of scents are you attracted to? What puts you off?

Me? I like the more subtle aromas. I stay well away from strongly flowery smells and anything that makes me smell edible (which covers most of the fruitier smells). Some exceptions to the flower rule: lavender, rose, honeysuckle ... as long as they aren't overpowering.

Lavender is a fantastic scent. It helps carry other scents and is actually found in a lot of perfumes.
I don't know that I would like it as a perfume, but I love Rosemary Essential Oil. It really does a number on my headaches. It has a bit of a strong smell, and I didn't like it at first, but after rubbing some on my temples I felt so much better that I reach for it frequently. I guess it is "comforting" in some way.
I don't try a lot of new perfumes, but I do like the classics. I guess Oscar de la Renta is my all time favorite.
I like the clean scents, and some herbaly ones as well. Sandalwood is so yummy !

Sandalwood, for some reason, always remind me of my grandmother.
Baby powder reminds me of my mom.
I wear very few scents on my person.
I wonder what my kids/grandkids will remember about me ... sweat? :D

I am ever so allergic to so many things too. But I love all things vanilla, cinnamon, and mint. Sometimes green apple scents too. Notice how they are all food related?

Anything pine or too flowery will set me itching.

I wish I knew for sure what it is that sets off my allergies.

I LOVE the smell of lavender and eucalyptus. Lavender being my favorite. I also like mint. My preferred perfume though is Channel #5. I just love the deep musky scent.

I love 'Warm Vanilla Sugar' body spray and lotion from Bath and Body Works store. I really like Body Fantasy's 'Vanilla Fantasy' body spray (most drugstore chains carry it. They are both very light.
I just got a diffuser and a candle for my birthday (I think it's Bath and Body Works?) called 'Buttercream Vanilla'. Yummy!
I spray lavender body spray on my pillow to help me sleep (it's a very relaxing scent.)
I like honeydew melon candle scents.
I LOVE the smell of a newly opened book.
I love the scent of coffee in the morning.
I love the scent of burning leaves in the Fall.
I love the scent of burning apple or pine wood.
I love the scent of burning Jasmine incense.
NO I am not a pyromaniac!
I like to smell onions being sauteed (okay, that's a little odd, but you asked about scents we like!)
I love the smell of baking cookies.
I like the smell of horse barns.
I hate overpowering smells like perfume or aftershave that are too strong or put on too heavy, especially in enclosed spaces.
I hate the smell of burned food.
There are other smells I hate, but since I am in polite company, I won't mention them!!
    Great topic...thanks!

      Here's what I don't get.
As far back as to when I was a kid, the smell of curing tobacco has always been nice to me.
Why is it so darned nasty when it's burned?

I love Bath and Body Works. I like the fruity and flowery scents. Right now I'm loving Pear Blossom. I like to change my perfumes/lotions with the season. So for spring/summer I like Plumeria or Pearberry and in the fall/winter I like things like Warm Vanilla Sugar or Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin. I have to stop or I will name off a thousand products from B&BW's lol.
Oh and I dislike fake rose and honeysuckle scents. If it could smell like the real thing it would be fine. And I don't like things that are too perfumy(if that makes any sense)

Variety makes the world more interesting :)
You and I are on the opposite ends of the scents.
I actually avoid the fruity and flowery.
At Bath and Body Works (I just realized how to spell that), most of the bottles I get tend to be in the blue or green range.
That'll tell you what type of scents I tend to go toward.

Bottles in the blue or green range ? Should the color of the bottle tell me something? That is too cool.

My mom and my sister are very "scent sensitive"...meaning that heady perfume overwhelms them easily--I do not have this problem, and from what my mom has said, my taste in scents reminds her of her mother/my grandmother.

I'm very broad in my taste, but am seasonal with my perfume usage--lighter scents in spring and summer, headier scents in fall and winter.

Overall, my favorite perfumes, on me, are almost anything by Calvin Klein, but particularly Euphoria, Obsession and Eternity; Samsara by Guerlain; Azuree Soleil by Estee Lauder and DKNY by Donna Karan.

As far as other scents, I love pear, cantelope, honeydew, vanilla, cinnamon, roses, lavender, magnolia's, Bounce Dryer Sheets...Honestly I'm a bit of a scent hog and I like the smell of alot of things!! LOL : )

My hubby buys my perfumes for me, because he is very sensitive to scents as well as I am. I can use White Shoulders, and Poison.
I don't use much of it, but let me tell you, I nearly knock myself out yesterday when I got on an elevator with no cool air and no air flow.
I just bet the lady who was on there was so glad when those doors opened.

Ooooh...White Shoulders...I love that! And L Air Du Temps Perfume, although it is wicked expensive and the last bottle I got was from hubby for a significant anniversary!
