The Arthurian legends first gathered by sir Thomas Mallory have exerted a tremendous influence on our western society. Again and again the legends have been subjected to new interpretations and attempts to place Arthur and Merlin in history. We'll probably never know whether he did exist. And yet his adventures are an inspiration to us all.
