icant agree with you on TEMPEST. It is some sort of biographical, of shakespeare. More over he says a very good philosophical love story.

I personally like Oliver Twist and Great Expectations (Charles Dickens) . Tale of Two Cities is also awsome ( as are the rest ).
As far as Shakespeare is concerned my favorites are Merchant of Venice and Julius Caeser - Worst I agree is the Tempest

I wonder if the Tempest is his worst because he was getting older and perhaps losing it. I liked Hamlet the best.
As for Dickens, I liked Great Expectations and the Pickwick Papers. I also always liked the Bleak House.

But how could you say that the Tempest is the worst? I don't understand. The Tempest is not only a story that rivest with its action (shipwrecks, stolen thrones, love) but also creates a portrait of Shakespeare's beliefs about his writing and art overall. It's fanatasitic, relevant, exciting, engaging. What made you think it was the worst?

Lear edges out Hamlet as S's best. As far as Dickens, I enjoyed Tale of Two Cities the best - but maybe that's because I love Casablanca so much (there are important similarities between the heroes). Wasn't all that impressed with David Copperfield.

You can read Shakespeare in story form also - Shakespeare Stories By Leon Garfield
Twelve of Shakespeare's plays are presented here in a fresh narrative form with much of the original language skillfully woven into the author's own prose.

Best Shakespeare, in my opinion, is Hamlet. King Lear would be a close second. Worst is probably Titus Andronicus though I still enjoyed even that to an extent. (I used to think Two Gentlemen of Verona but I saw an adaptation of it years ago that made me change my mind)
I've read everything of Dickens (even Edwin Drood) and I've enjoyed all of it. Tale of Two Cities, Our Mutual Friend, and A Christmas Carol are my favorites. I didn't particularly care for Martin Chuzzlewit...because it's Dickens I still enjoyed it but...just not my favorite.
