Fire is fascinating
When the big fire was still burning around San Diego, I found myself re-reading "Young Men and Fire." If you've never read it, you should definitely pick up a copy. It can be tough to read--a little like Melville, in that it wanders all over the place--but the case study of the Mann Gulch fire in Montana and the history of fire prediction that follows is wicked cool. Plus, who's cooler than Smokejumpers?
