I attended the award ceremony in San Francisco since my historical fiction novel, "My Splendid Concubine", won an honorable mention in the general fiction category.

I met other authors. One of the category winners was Geri Spieler, who wrote "Taking Aim at the President", a non-fiction account in a creative style about the woman that attempted to assassinate President Ford. She has a fascinating story to tell. Check her book out if you are interested in the topic. Now in her 80s, this assassin that does not fit any profile of an assassin was released from prison a few years ago, the only presidential assassin to ever get out of prison. She was a mother and married to a doctor. She was also a paid informant for the FBI and a double agent infiltrating domestic terrorist organizations--not the author, but the assassin.

    Sincerely,
    Lloyd Lofthouse
