Is there a difference between mind and soul?

This I think causes a lot of confusion. In my opinion the mind and soul are one and the same, they are both beyond the physical, unlike the brain which is physical.

I agree, to an extent. I believe that like you said the brain is physical it is there. And the Mind, is't something that can really be studied by the fancy machines they use to study brains. While I believe that, I think that the mind and the soul are two different things that are interconnected. Like the soul is deeper in the body, more intergrated with personality and responses to situations. The soul is more or less serving several purposes and one of them is like "guardian angel" (Which I hate that phrase) but none the less something that is there to weigh the options of our actions. There's a lot of room for error as well as interpretation with this subject. These are just my opinions on the topic at hand.

You should read The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. It is his belief, and mine as well, that the mind isn't really what is "you". The mind is the ever-thinking body that lends us the self doubt and put downs that we give ourselves on a daily basis. Only when we can learn to control our mind can we get to the root of our being. I certainly hope my mind is not my soul, if so I am a complete mess! haha

Does Tolle, then, consider the mind to encompass the body beyond "just" the brain? That is, the rest of the endocryne system, muscle memory...?
