Indian Writers in English - A Critical Analysis

Hi Ladies n Gentlemen..
I joined this platform a few minutes back..I am sure I am not in the same league as other members..there are very eminent personalities onboard here..I do wish to initiate a discussion with the kind permission of the administrator..my point of discussion is as follows..

Indian who use the English language gets in some extent alienated . This development is superficial and this is why many blame Indian Writers in English as writers who present India in a foreign view-point .There work doesn’t contain a deep analysis of the Indian realities and Indian characters .

True enough...most foreign language writers write in their native tongues. And their works that we see are all transaltions...so the idea that it is a translation is always there at the back of our minds and we readily accept the new milieu...Indians writing in English must the only ones writing in a foreign language.

Thank you Smitha for your kind response. Another point that is to be noted that majority of Indian writers in English are still afflicted by post-colonial and post-Partition syndromes..

I somehow beg to differ from you... I believe there are certain Indian authors who are indeed very good at writing in English and actually bring out the Indian - ness (if I may) in the characters and incidents. Try reading R. K. Narayan and Anurag Mathur if you wanna know what I am talking about... Well just my 2 cents :-)
