      were u able to read the first 3 books of the series? i heard that the novels are better than the movies, but i saw the first 2 movies and they are good alternative to hollywood urban fantasies. i like the series' references on the asian & middle eastern mythology.

      Do you have a copy of Book 1 and 2 of John Dunning? it is good to read Booked to Die first then Bookman's Wake...Bookman's Promise is the 3rd one. But each book is also a "stand alone" story.

      @GnP - Excuse me, di ko fantasy ang Battle Royale with my students. If I don't like someone, I prefer to prolong their agony instead of just killing them off.:)

      Haven't read Battle Royale, but I did see the movie. Although it there was media coverage of the winner, I don't think the "killing for entertainment" portion was emphasized, unlike in _U_ER _AM_ _. That aspect is more similar to "The Condemned," a B-movie with Steve Austin (the wrestler), which I nevertheless found interesting. Doon, 10 convicts naman sila trapped in an island. Fight to the death, and people can watch it all on an illegal online site.

    Mama confirmed that she was able to get me Stephen Colbert's I Am America (And So Can You!) [hardcover edition] for US$17+ (tax included). The shipped the book with the rest of other padala in an LBC box to arrive here in a month's time. ^^"

    M planning to acquire Melting Stones and BloodHound both by Tamora Pierce later this year if the budget permits or if anyone is generous enough to gift me with them. If not, I'll wait for the trade paperback editions later. :)

      Fanta- was not able to go to a bookstore since last Saturday. There are a few copies at NBS (as confirmed by the NBS Facebook page). Will try Q. Ave, Cubao and Greenhills- the branches I normally frequent.

    Plato- Defence of Socrates, Euthyphro , Crito (Oxford World classics)- lost my copy recently so had to replace it.
    Heredotus- The Histories (lost this also, left my previous new copy also-bought-at-NBS-sale in the cab!)
    Jose Rizal- Noli Me tangere (hb and white paper) P600 i think. Never got to buy the one thats only P200 but had even better yellow paper.
    Jose Rizal- El Filibusterismo P200 this one has very nice paper. HB also
    Umberto Eco- The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana – my intellectual friend who also loves U. Eo dumped this book at me cuz he said it’s no good. And I never reject free gifts!
    Jerzy Kosinki- Pinball for only P5! For reading (I luuurve Jerzy Kosinki so twisted and his books terrify me, lots of horrid stuff esp. The sex scenes and perversions) and bookmooch. ^^ not mmp so i like it. Great buy!!!
    Colette- Cheri and 5the Last of heri. Penguin. Great buy for only P20. For mooch
    Mark Twain- The Adventuresof Huckleberry Finn- sale P82 at NBS. Nice edition.
    Dr. V.S Ganjabhang- The Potheads’ Little Instruction Book- for only P10. Small square sized book. I don’t smoke pot, but i know a lot of potheads to give this to
    JM Coetzee- Disgrace – also sale at NBS forgot how much. I think P50. I loved very much The Life and Times of Michael K so I buy this book
    The Lonely Planet Guide to xperimental Travel- nice HB book with awesome illustrations! For use when I finally win the lottery and go on a road trip to India!
    Thinkers of the East- Idries Shah – a philo book for P240. Bought at the NBS sale in Technohub, Philcoa
    Schopenhauer- On the Basis of Morality- a book that a friend got for P10 at Recto. Perfect for reading when im having my PMS and reneging on the whole world and humanity and contemplating self-mutilation
    Paul Virilio- Virilio Live selected interviews- one of my fave social theorists of the day!
    John Steinbeck- Cabnnery Row mmp P10. For bookmooch
    Sabine Kuegler- Child of the Jungle (the true story of a girl caught between two worlds)- a story abt a European child who grew up in the jungle cavorting with cheetahs and all that
    Jane Goodall- In the Shadow of Man- amazing stories of animal behaviour. I look forward to reading this.
    Julius Fast- Sexual Chemistry (what it is- how to use it) as if i still need a book to tell me all about his, hahaha
    James Robert Parish-n The Hollywood Book of Scandals- one of my most awesome Booksale purchases ever. I truly love reading about the shocking, often disgraceful deeds and affairs and the tawdry lives of these American movie and TV idols. Bring on the lurid details puh-leaze! I guess its pretty obvious that i love to watch The Buzz also, hehe
    Ian Crofton- Brewer’s Cabinet of Curiosities- a wonderful excellent book of trivia that I gotr for P150 at the NBS sale! Perfect bathroom reading.t he paper quality font and illustrations is just amazing. It’s HB too. learning so much oddities to store in my memory next to important dates and Ohm's Law
    Randy David- Reflections of Sociology and Philippine Society- P320 at the bookfair. Reading this now and i can see that the problems he was writing about since 1977 are still pretty much the same today!!!
    Cesar Adib Majul- The Political and Constituional Ideas of the Philippine Revolution- P320 anoher no discount book from the UP press at the bookfair. For gift to my mom

      saw this at Booksale in Starmall. I went there to get Against the grain by JK Huysman and couldn't find it (friend Winter hid it only to well, naging treasure hunt tuloy)
      but then saw this lying around and remembered ofcourse that
      FFP peeps were discussing it. so i grabbed the copy immediately. ^^

      i flipped some pages na and liked what I've read.
