Rochelle Alers, Donna Hill, Brenda Jackson, Beverly Jenkins, Francis Ray...The list goes on and on. This book club is for readers to celebrate black romance books and also read books as a group.
Our little book club has a few guidelines:
1. We read black romance books that are in print
2. We give two months to read the selected book.
3. We try to choose a debut author every other go around (so be on the look out).
4. We have FUN discussing the novel(s), those we like and don't like.
Pull up a comfy chair and let's get our READ ON!!!!
We are presently reading
When I'm With You by debut author Laconnie Taylor-JonesMarcel Baptiste is a wealthy entrepreneur and philanthropist. He meets Caitlyn Thompson, the head of a struggling youth center, when she appeals to his philanthropic foundation for funding. Marcel is smitten and begins wooing her, but she is a hard sell; she has relocated to Oakland after being beaten and raped by Cole, her controlling ex, and is very gun-shy when it comes to men. As Marcel falls more deeply under her spell, he decides that merely loving her isn't enough: he must also help her vanquish the ghosts of her past.
We'll start the discussion on
2 February 2008. Spread the word!!!!

NOTE: This is not a critique group or a place to run ads. This is a group to discuss black romance novels. If your post does not follow the thread or the theme of the group, it will be deleted. Authors, there is a thread for you to promote your books. Otherwise, please join us in discussing some great novels. « less
