Anitaverse

Anitaverse is short for the Anita Blake Universe, a world created by author Laurell K. Hamilton where vampires, shapeshifters, and other preternaturals not only exist in the 21st century, they're legal citizens and attract all kinds of tourists to supernatural hotspot St. Louis.

Actually, I agree--which surprises me because none of my favorite characters are featured prominently in it. It did however, pay homage to the older books in the series that put Anita on a case, pitted her against scary monsters, and actually had a semblance of a plot.

There was one point when the course of the story seemed to veer off in another direction, but it recovers and carries on to a satisfying finish. (Umm, no pun intended.)

I really liked this book. It was like Obsidian Butterfly in a way. The only thing missing was Anita raising zombies. I am surprised that she didin't say good bye or call Micah. I know she was busy and all but that is still strange.

I also thought there was going to be a book on Edward, Anita, Olaf, and Bernardo going to distroy The Mother of Darkness. Doesn't look like that is going to happen. I really can't wait for the next book. I'm also mad that Anita hasn't done anything with Haven. He moved for her and she isn't even sleeping with him. WTF?

I am mad about Haven too. I loved it when she called him cookie monster. :)

I was under the impression that Haven (cookie monster) moved for power (all the lions and a new base) and not Anita, im sure somewhere it says that the top female lion didnt want him sleeping with Anita either.

This is my first book by this writer and this character. I just got it in the mail.
I only read the backside and it sounded like something i would like so i bought it online (was much cheaper then in store)

Recently i found out this was book 17 or 19 in a series.
Will i be missing out a lot (obviously 16 or 18 books) in terms of characters is it hard to catch up on the main character or do i need to read all previous books. (i may but i have to much unfinished series i want to complete first)

As i understood it's "Just" a detective series that can be read as a seperate story though some things might be strange as i don't know what happened before with the main character.

    Thanks for your input

You could read it, the author does explain alot of the things that are important. but the history and understanding of the characters you wont be able to get unless you read all the others. all of the books are written in such as way that when you just jump into one it seems off or somtimes a little disturbing if you dont know the story behind it. But its up to you. x

I think you will be lost with several things, especially about the relationships and personalities if you start here... but it is up to you...

I have the whole series and love it, you see each character evolve and devolve and grow and several others come and go....
