hey rawlife,
I dont own any of the e-book reader but have been planning to buy one. I wouldnt opt for Kindle for the same reason that Bikash has pointed out in his comment: cant put ebooks apart from those bought from Amazon.
I happen to see one of the ebook reader (it was Sony eReader), the eInk display was superb it almost felt like a book :-).
to answer your questions:
* Do you own a Kindle? What's your opinion about buying one?
==] i have already mentioned above. To reiterate, i dont have one but by april end or early may i should have one.
* Does it come any close to holding a book in your hand?
the reading experience is same as that of book thanks to eInk technology.
* Are their other better kindle like devices that you know?
there are loads of eReaders out there in the market. India too has its own called Infibeam's "Pi"(checkout www.infibeam.com)
To find out more about other eReaders checkout: http://e-readerfeeder.com/buy-e-readers.html
* Is it cheaper to buy e-books than paperbacks?
While some ebooks are cheaper than their paperback editions, it can be said for all. it varies from case to case basis.
regards,
Santosh.
