Synopsis: The crew have crossed the Plains of the Khazars in current day Kalmykia, the only European country with Buddhism as it state religion, and arrive at the White Fortress at Sarkel. The historic fortress on the Don River was submerged under a reservoir by the Soviets before adequate extensive archaeology could be carried out.
