Edgy Christian Fiction lovers

This group will specifically discuss the latest edgy Christian fiction so we might recommend books to each other and discover new authors. I'd like to focus on the gritty, real-life tragedies and events that many people experience, and also highlight books that illustrate this type of content.

I agree! That book made me cry! Francine Rivers has soma amazing ones. The book that taught me a lot about love and forgiveness was Redeeming Love, by Rivers.

"Safely Home" by Randy Alcorn really left a huge impact on me. It is about the persecuted church in China and his depiction of heaven was absolutely incredible!

I recently read Evidence Not Seen by Darlene Diebler Rose, now deceased, who survived a Japanese POW camp. She is a true soldier of the Lord Jesus Christ that raised my awareness of how deep the Lord's love and support for us will go.

I think Frank Peretti's Piercing the Darkness. It made me take prayer and spiritual warfare more serious.

Francine Rivers, Mark of the Lion series was one of my life changing books. I do read all her stuff. Who is your favorite Christian author? I also read all of frank peretti"s stuff and my favorite one of his was The Prophet. It opened my eyes to so many things.

Bait of Satan by John Bevere was amazing. After going thru a very hard time in my life with my girls, I learned about the devestation of carrying around an offense. It would be easy for me to be offended until Jesus came if it weren't for the life changing helps he gives in this book. Because of what Jesus did for each of us, none of us is in a position to carry around an offense toward someone. Forgiveness is a must in this life.

Honestly? Dee Henderson's O'Malley series. Not because it's the best-written or most theologically meaty Christian fiction I've read, but it was the first Christian fiction series I read that convinced me I COULD read Christian fiction and enjoy it! Every attempt I had made in the past left me bored, but I loved those! After that I discovered Francine Rivers (still my favorite), Frank Peretti, Charles Martin, and many others. Now I've gotten to the point where I rarely read any fiction that isn't published by CBA.

Joy - Victoria Christopher Murry. It references the scripture "Weeping may endure for a night, but Joy comes in the morning."
This was life changing for me because it taught me that sometimes things will happen to us that we think are really bad, but God will step in and show us that even as bad as it is, he has a purpose in it.

C.S. Lewis "The Great Divorce" - read it first as a young teen. Mind-opening!

Karen Hancock's "The Darkness Within" christian fantasy. The main character struggles with keeping the light within him in control and not letting the darkness have the upper hand. A great message about how God's spirit and our own sinful nature are constantly at war.
