    Audio Books

What's your take on it? Does it count? Is it cheating to count books you've heard on 'tape' as books you've read?

    Do you do it?

I love audio books and have turned my kids onto them. I used to listen to them when I drove back and forth from MI to NY during college.
Of course they count! Why wouldn't it? sometimes I think you get more out of hearing someone read than reading yourself. Voice inflection and intonation, etc.
I don't have the time to listen to them with 2 younger kids, but look forward to the day I will again, and definately they count!

Some books you cannot listen to the CD's and then the book, like Harry Potter. It does count, but you should at least TRY to read the book before hand.

Okay, not having listened to many audio books, what is the difference??
I have mostly listened to Mary's, children's literature, and I think it has enhanced the story, not detracted from it, but I have not listened to many Young Adult or Adult books on audio.
      Clarification is needed! ;-)
