Have you discovered any new-to-you cozy authors lately?

I've discovered a couple - Lorna Barrett who wrote Murder is Binding. I loved this book and it is the first in the series. The next one doesn't come out until February 2009, though.

The other is Susan Kandel's Cece Caruso series. I just made a post about that one.

Murder is Binding? Does it have anything to do with a bookstore?

Murder is Binding is set in a town that has an entire street dedicated to bookstores. The heroine works in the mystery bookstore. The person who was killed works in the cookbook store. It's the first in this series and the next one doesn't come out until February.

I just picked up one of Yasmine Galenorm's "Chintz and China" series books. I didn't know that she wrote Cozies !! I have read some of her regular paranormal books "The Changeling" and such.

The main character in this book is psychic. She is 30 something, and has a 14 year old daughter, a 9 year old son, and a hunky boyfriend. I am just a few pages in but think that I will like it.

It's called "Ghost of a Chance" right? I just got that at a UBS a week or so ago. I have not read it yet. I am juggling 30 library books and trying to fit a few of the ones I own in between. It's very difficult. LOL

sunshine girl, I really like it so far, although I haven't had the time to read much these last few days.
This book is a tiny bit "grittier" than some of the cozies I have read. Not quite as much humor, but on the down-low as far as language and sexual content. If this book continues to keep my attention, I will definitely get more......... "K"

Been reading Sharon Kahn & Diane Mott Davidson's cozies. Goldy gains a cat - Scout - a few books in, and Ruby, the Rabbi's widow just got Chutzpah in the 2nd to last book, but neither feline takes much interest in the mysteries as yet. :-)

I read the first book in Diane Mott Davidson's series and loved Goldy. There are so many series I'm reading that I haven't gotten back to it yet, but I will.

I've read a few lately, searching for the best possible combination of murder, humour and romance. I didn't really like 'Crime Brulee' (though the recipes sounded good), but I really enjoyed 'What angels Fear', a historical m.m. set in regency times

Hi, gang. I just joined the group, and I'm pointing Lorna Barrett (otherwise known as Lorraine Bartlett) toward you! I blog with both Lorraine/Lorna and Leann Sweeney on Writers Plot.

Don't hate me, but my first series (Sarah Atwell's Glassblowing Series) has dogs in it. Two of them. That's what the publisher wanted, sigh. But I'm putting a cat in the second series, the one with my name on it (Sheila Connolly's Orchard Series). I have never owned a dog, I swear, but I do have three cats.

      Hi Sheila and welcome!

I don't hate you - in fact, I have your book and plan to read it as one of my choices for a reading challenge. I've heard so many good things about it. I, of course, prefer cats (I have 3 too!), but I do enjoy books with all animals in them. I'm so glad you are going to have a cat in your next series. When is that coming out?

Welcome! Your series sounds great so I just ordered the first book from Amazon.
When does your other series come out?

Yvonne and sunshinegirl--thanks for asking! The Orchard Series debuts with One Bad Apple on August 5th, and it has one delicious cover (when you see it, you'll get the pun).

The cat won't appear until Book 2 (still unnamed), and then she just wanders in, sits down next to my heroine Meg, and starts taking a bath. So I guess she adopts Meg, rather than the other way around.

And if you like all animals, I've also sneaked a pair of goats in (or they walked in--I'm only the writer). Of course, I don't know if my editor will approve.

Sounds wonderful, Sheila! I've written it down and will be in Borders on the 5th! I can't wait.

Isn't that always the way? Cats adopt us and welcome us in their world :)

Yes, this is my first book that I'm reading by her. Someone had mentioned her books on Shelfari. I don't remember which group it was.I lucked up and found this book at Laciesmom's bookstore. I told K' to keep a look-out for this series just incase the person who brought this book in brings anymore.
