    Writing the Time Travel

    Save Changes Cancel
If you're an author, have you written a time-travel story? I just sold my first TT novel and it'll be out next year. It's called RUNNING OUT OF TIME and takes readers back 50 years to the Cold War.

Writing a time travel story is a challenge because: (1) You have to get the history right. (2) You have to create deliberate anachronisms. Finally, (3) You have to do both without the writing becoming tedious to read.

I hope I accomplished all three in Running Out of Time. I guess time (ahem!) will tell! ☺

Congratulations! Your book sounds terrific - I'll keep an eye out for it! Which publisher is it with?
I wrote "Time for Alexander" - set in ancient Greece - and I researched for over a year. I wrote letters to professors of Greek history all over the world and read everything I could find in our public library. I worked with maps and outlines, and drove my family crazy by taking over the whole dining room table for my notes! It was a lot of fun though, and I did the same thing a few years later with "Angels on Crusade", a story set in France in the 11th century. Again, nearly a year's worth of research went into it. Time fpr Alexander is available at Calderwood Books, and Angels on Crusade can be found in Ellora's Cave Blush line.
