    Favorite Western Romance Cowboys

This group has been a quiet lately so I thought I'd start a new topic--who are some of your favorite heros from your favorite books--and why?. I know one of mine is Caleb Black from Elizabeth Lowell's Only His --and darned if I know why because I'm not sure how I'd feel about him if I met him in real life. He was so tough on poor Willow--so unyielding--until he fell in love. Guess that was the hook! More recently I'd say Rowdy Rhodes from A Wanted Man--conflicted, not all good and not all bad--you just knew that deep down he was struggling (like we all do at times) to do the right thing in a "shade of gray" world. Some others would be Quinn Lassiter from Jill Gregory's Cold Night, Warm Stranger, Cole Mitchell from Karyna DaRosa's Dry Moon and Tucker Morgan from Stacy Kayne's Mustang Wild. Now Tucker I would like to meet in real life--funny, glib, arrogant and wild --you know you'd be in for a good time! That's off the top of my head, but I'm sure you all have a ton of other favorite cowboys to add --Anne

Hi Anne! Thanks for sending me the Shelfari note! I'm so woefully uninformed *lol*--I didn't know there was a Western Romance Group! Sounds like a great place to be :)

I'm so glad Tucker had a possitive impact ;-) He is my favorite of all my heroes thus far, and was a blast to work with *g*.

If I was gonna pick my fave western hero, it would be a toss up between Elizabeth Lowell's Whip Moran, from ONLY LOVE--his confidence and wondering soul was irresistable to me--and Jesse Dufrayne, from LaVyrle Spencer's HUMMINGBIRD. Such a dominating presence, yet wanted his woman to shine as well. *sigh* Love a strong hero who empowers his strong heroine, rather than hovers over her ;-)

When I saw this question, three cowboys came to mind immediately--

Redhawk Jackson in Hard Case Cowboy by Nina Bruhns

Ridge Madoc in Maureen McKade's To Find You Again

Luke Warring from "Moonlight Whispers" in My Heroes have Always Been Cowboys. Okay that last one is my own story, but I can't help it. I love Luke.

I think I love all of these guys because they have an inner strength that is always simmering under their quiet, calm facade. They hide their hurts and the joys and really need the love of a woman to allow them to open up their soul.

For sure Elizabeth Lowell's "Only" series. All of them were wonderful except the one who married the scottish lady. He was horrible to her for too much of the story and there was no justification for it going on that long. But the other three, even with the "big misunderstanding", they were amazing! Cheyenne McCray seems to make great cowboys these days.

Mine are: Hunter and Case Maxwell from Autumn Lover & Winter fire...ok yes, they're from Elizabeth Lowell. She does cowboys pretty well.

How about Angel from Johanna Lindsey
And The Mc Kettrick's serie from Linda Lael Miller

I love these style of books. I live overseas and can never find anything. When I do find a book I don't want it to finish.

I have jumped on your thread and taken some notes of some names. Thank you.
I will start looking or ordering.

    thanks again
