queereaders

This is for queer identified people--gay, lesbian, bi, trans, other--who particularly want to share queer themed books and authors.

When I think of queer, though, I think of beyond the more accepted margins of gay and lesbian, so less Rita Mae Brown and David Levitt and more Samuel Delany and Marilyn Hacker, or more radical

A little more activity guys! :D

I have decided to continue reading Anne Rice's vampire chronicles and I'm reading The Vampire Armand. Finally, more gay action here as compared to the other 5 vampire novels!

I was never aware that Anne Rice's vampire novels had a gay streak. Her books seem kind of dark for me. Any of them rather "feel good"?

Yup you're right, not really gay-themed, more like with gay content. I remember anne rice saying the lestat character (played by tom cruise) is not gay. But everyone who read it thought so. Maybe it's a vampire thing. Rawrrr...

I don't know if there's a feel good book coming from her. It's not something we can expect from her, i think.

Read her Christ the Lord Series - this I should say would be her feel good books. Those books were moving.

Thanks for the reply. Oh well, I might just try reading one of her vampire novels. Any recommendation?

The Vampire Chronicles, starting with Interview With a Vampire, Vampire Lestat then Queen of the Damned. The series makes up 10 books and i think 2 more offshoot novels. Ooops, you asked for only one, it's Interview With A Vampire then.

The Hours - I watched the film first before I bought my copy. It was such a delight to read it and the film didn't distract me at all. It was so well acted anyway. The book weaved through three time periods seamlessly. Homosexuality and Death... hmmm

Ok, so far I have read. .. Oranges are not the only fruit, Aimee and Jaguar, the coming out book Cher's daughter wrote, Fun home, and some weird book i deleted off my shelf. Today I open my mail box and I have the book I ordered called "Valencia" by Michelle Tea. She starts talking about how the charchter is in the club and because they are playing L7 and riot girl music is the girls right to slam dance and not the boys. So she is pretending to slam dance while really trying to hurt them and then it goes on to say "Laugh, hahahaha. I was doing the goddess's work". Sooo, I took the book and threw it at the wall anyone else read this I think that was page 3 should I try and harder? Maybe if i was 17?
