Cat and Book Lovers, Awake!
Started by Toraspanda, Saturday, July 28 2007. Last post Wednesday, December 19 2007.

Hello. Mad cat-lady and avid reader here. I saw this group and thought - right up my street - but behold, nothing is happening!

So I decided to start the ball rolling, first by adding some books to the group shelf, by way of running up a flag to see if anyone salutes.

I'll continue by asking: what are your favourite cat books? My all-time favourite is Paul Gallico's "Jennie". Now there was a man who really understood cats, and made you feel that he actually knew what it was like to be one!

Good choice! Jennie is Peter's companion in Tailchaser's Song right? I remember reading that one quite awhile ago, and actually named my current yellow tabby Petey--after Peter! My favorite cat book (so far) is The Autobiography of Foudini M. Cat. It's so cute, and like your favorite, you really get the feeling the author knows what it's like to be a cat. Must recommend the audio book as well, read by David Hyde Pierce, he's the perfect voice for Foudini. Oh, this book is written by Susan Fromberg Schaeffer for anyone who'd like to look it up.

Hello beellegee. No, Jennie and Tailchaser's Song are quite different books; the first is by Paul Gallico (who also wrote Thomasina), the second by Tad Williams. I'll look out for the Foudini book, thanks for the tip!

Drat, I accidentally posted the same one twice. Please, Shelfari moderators, an editing function is sorely needed!

Have Tailchaser's Song as well as the first book in the Warrior series. They are basically on my list of books to read. I'm hoping they will be as great as my expectations.

Hmm - I love kittehs but I don't read many books about them...Warriors. I had almost forgotten about The Incredible Journey. I will have to think about that one...I don't have many books on my shelf because I cannot remember all the library books I read when I was younger and I KNOW that there are cat books on my list...
