Military SciFi

A group for the military scifi fans out there... To me, they are kind of like a scifi version of a romance novel... Are they deep philosophical stories? Not usually... Are the fun to read? Yes!

Well... I read the first one and enjoyed it... Hopefully the next couple are all good... This would have been even better if I had read it as a teenager...

    Zarky!

Glad you liked it.. There are 7 books in the series, but the first 4 are the best, and concludes the "young" Seafort years really well.

I read the series and its fairly ok, first four I agree are the better of the series. Voices was the least favorite, really tough to get through.
Overall I wouldnt call it hardcorps military sci-fi, its more space opera/adventure, IMHO.

    About 3 otta 5 lasguns:)

The Seafort Saga has 7 books that I know of and I have read all of them, I re-read them from time to time as well. They are keepers at least for me.

Well, I hate to be the lone dissenter here, but I have to say I really didn't care for them. I struggled through the first two books and couldn't bring myself to read any more of them. I found Mr. Seafort's endless string of disasters and persistant self-loathing to be depressing. If your going to read these, bring a tub of ice cream... you will need something to cheer you up.

I don't wish to take away from the enjoyment that others have had from these books, I just thought I should give my own impressions as well.

    Good reading,
    Mark

No problem Mark... I've only read the first one of these and I can understand your comments... It worked for me in the first novel... Not sure how it will play over time... We'll see... I have the second one on the shelf waiting...

Mark, you are not the lone dissenter here :-) I have somehow endured the first 3 books, finally stopped halfway through the 4th book.
