Military SciFi

A group for the military scifi fans out there... To me, they are kind of like a scifi version of a romance novel... Are they deep philosophical stories? Not usually... Are the fun to read? Yes!

books for 11 year old, similar to Honor Harrington

Since around December I've been reading to my son the Honor Harrington books (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honorverse). We are now on the 10th book, and it is getting very heavy on the politics, which he is not as into. Do people have recommendations for other series that are more similar to the earlier books?

If not obvious, my son likes more action faster paced books. If I read them, they can be a little slower paced. He is capable of reading these books, but we both still like my reading to him.

Well... I haven't read the Honor Harrington series yet but Campells Lost Fleet series might be a good fit...

I have read (and loved the earlier books of) the Honor Harrington series. I second the suggestion of Campbell's Lost Fleet series -- it's one of my favorites.

He started the first Lost Fleet book and really likes it and has been zooming through it. When I told him that the first 60 pages covered only two hours because so much was happening, he liked that (plus the following three weeks that were just traveling covered only a few pages).
