I think that my favourite reformed bad boys are:-
Sebastian from 'Lord of Scoundrels'
Sebastian (it that a particularly bad boy name I wonder?) from 'The Devil in Winter'
James Mallory (of course!) from 'Gentle Rogue'
There are loads more but these are the ones that spring to mind at the moment!

I second all of the recommendations for Lord of Scoundrels and Devil in Winter. I believe that Lord of Scoundrels was recently (and presently) on the list for best romances in literary history.

You could also try Christina Dodd's 2 book series, "The Runaway Princess" and "Someday My Prince"...the hero of the second book is the villian of the first. They were pretty good:)

If I remember right in Johanna Lindsey's Savage Thunder you get a glimps of Angel, who has a definite attitude and a villianous killer to boot. He reforms wonderfully in his book Angel. You can't help loving him.

I've heard of Angel, but haven't read those yet... Thanks!!!

Hi April. I have four heroes that are not quite reformed that I have been serially in love with. Justin, Duke of Avon, in Georgette Heyer's THESE OLD SHADES, does not even begin to reform. He still hasn't and neither does his son in DEVIL'S CUB. Naturally Sebastian in Loretta Chase's LORD OF SCOUNDRELS. Also Reggie in Mary Jo Putney's THE RAKE. :-D

THESE OLD SHADES is one of my favorite books!!! The Duke of Avon is the best of all villains! And of course THE DEVIL'S CUB is brilliant, too (love Vidal shooting a man dead on the road and leaving him there, what an opening!). Georgette Heyer is brilliant. No one touches her, I think!

I've also read THE RAKE by Mary Jo Putney. I enjoy her books a lot.

Actually my favorite villain/hero after Avon is in Patricia Veryan's DEDICATED VILLAIN. I haven't read any to match him, either. *sigh*

I actually have LORD OF SCOUNDRELS in my To Be Read Pile. I'll get to it soon.

Thanks so much for your suggestions! ^___^

You mentioned Veryan's 'Dedicated Villian'. I found this book is sixth in the series. Do they need to be read in order? I found my local library has a copy...Thanks!

Like most romances in series, they usually can stand alone. But if you want to read about what went before, you can wait to read them in order (if you can find the books... Veryan is usually in libraries, but they are older books and hard to find if they aren't!).

I don't really need to read about the reformed villain being the bad guy... I like 'em when they have their own books, personally! Although the earlier Veryan books are OK, too. She's one of the older, classic romance writers and usually worth reading.

Here I am recommending in my own thread again!

I recently read WORTH ANY PRICE one of Lisa Kleypas' Bow Street Runners books and the hero, Nick Gentry, was definitely a reformed rogue. The book itself wasn't perfect (not sure if I got all I could out of his bad past and reformation and the conflict wasn't too strong) but the romance was still very nice overall.

I agree with you.♥ It isn't a favorite Lisa Kleypas novel but I still liked it.

Nick Gentry was really an interesting character. =)
