hmmm Ive read a lot about this theme so i cant particularly remember what is my fav. but i have recently read "Move heavens and Earth" by christina dodd
Another book that i can think of that has the beauty and the beast theme is "The Perils of Pursuing a Prince (Desperate Debutantes, Book 2)" by Julia London, after i read it i really thought i was reading a very dark and mature version the beauty and the beast for some reason if i think of any more i'll be sure to post again hope it helps

They sound good to me! Thanks so much!!! I'll run over to Amazon and hunt 'em down!
If you think of any more later on, please do tell me! ^___^

Just read MOVE HEAVEN AND EARTH by Christina Dodd. I liked how the hero had an unusual affliction: paralysis after Waterloo--no major wound (plus some other unusual things!). He's the typical angry, frustrated invalid... but a bit of a cad in his treatment of Sylvan the heroine. I like mystery plots, too, and this one started out good, but fell apart a bit at the end. I'm not sure I thought much of either character at the end, but it was definitely different!

I'm reading PERILS OF PURSUING A PRINCE right now! Very Beauty-and-Beast... and more subtle than some, which is good. I'm enjoying it greatly, thanks!

Some of my favourites are:- 'Candle in the Window' by Christina Dodd - hero not scared but blind and very bitter! 'Simply Love' by Mary Balogh - hero tortured in the war and badly scared. 'Tapestry' by Karen Reney - hero wounded in the war by an accident. 'If you Deceive' by Kresley Cole - hero deliberately scarred by evil henchman. 'Three Little Secrets' by liz CArlyle - again hero deliberately scarred. I know there are loads more but hope these will do to go on with!

Ooo--ooooh! Yes, Candle in the Window was good! Yep, blind and bitter, that was right! :)
Simply Love was great, too! I read almost all of Balogh's books.
Hmmm, can't remember if I've read the others, so I'll be off to look them up and get ahold of them if I can! THANKS!!!

Oh... I just read THREE LITTLE SECRETS by Liz Carlyle, and I loved it! Thanks for the recommendation, again! ... I've got a hold of TAPISTRY... I may have read it before, but I can't quite remember, so I'll read it again--why not? :)
I just read TAPESTRY by Karen Ranney. I actually think I've read it before--so long that I can't quite remember--even though this book is VERY memorable! Wow--one of the saddest (well, bittersweet, anyway), most highly romantic tales I've read in ages. Definitely a keeper... although... so sad!!!

Derek Craven from "Dreaming of You," by Lisa Kleypas, is the greatest anti-hero ever written. "Yours Until Dawn" by Teresa Medieros (sp?) is another fantastic wounded hero. It's not a romance, but "Howl's Moving Castle" by D. Wynne-Jones is a hilarious, fantastic twist on Beauty and the Beast, with the girl as an enchanted Beast! Kinley MacGregor's "Sword of Darkness" and "Knight of Darkness," both heroes are bad guys. Laura Kinsale's "Flowers from the Storm." the Duke of Jervaulx is fantastic, the ultimate wounded hero, and a romance book for anyone who hates romance. it's different and not traditional, and a personal favorite. Got bunches more, hit my shelf if you need more help:)

Oh, I read FLOWERS FROM THE STORM way back when--you're right, it was very different and quite memorable!
I've been thinking of reading some Wynne-Jones, just to see what everyone is talking about, so HOWL'S will be on my list!
Thanks for the other recommendations, I'll definitely look for them!

Just read SWORD OF DARKNESS (again). There were definitely Beauty and the Beast overtones/references there. And yes, a bad guy redeemed... Thanks.
I'll be getting to some of the others sometime soon...

Derek Craven is wonderful!!
Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase was excellent!! The hero feels ugly. It was one of the most romantic books I've read.
Thanks for the rec! I've now got it in my TBR pile!
Laird of the Mist- Paula Quinn Once and Always- Judith McNaught Killjoy- Julie Garwood
Definitely Born in Sin by Kinley MacGregor. To this day Sin is my very favorite wounded hero. Also Johanna Lindsey's Savage Thunder comes to mind with Colt being a scarred hero for sure.
I think that Sin's story is heartbreaking - his lifestory made me cry!

Ages back I read books with the title having the name 'Angelique' in them. Author was Sergeanne Golon I think. I liked them at that time, even though at that time I did not like the idea of a scarred hero. I found the books haunting, and eventually came to like the hero quite a bit. Try them if you like.
You know, I read the Angelique books ages ago, too!!! I'm wondering if that's where it all started for me, now that you mention it! Hmmmm!
Yeah... I don't think I appreciated scarred heroes when I was very young, either!

I just finished The Bride Finder by Susan Carroll it is very good.
Oh, I thought of another one -- I recently read "A Rose in Winter" by Kathleen Woodiwiss and it was WONDERFUL. Sort of along that line.
Kinley MacGregor's Master of Desire! He's Wounded on the inside and she tries to make him laugh.
I just finished Mary Balogh's Secret Pearl. It was a great book. Ian was scarred pretty badly at the Battle of Waterloo.
Once and Always by Judith McNaught. The hero, Jason Fielding was scarred with betrayals, and his past. This is one of my favorite Judith McNaught novel.
I can't remember if someone recommended this, but the hero in Lynn Kurland's THIS IS ALL i ASK is wounded (blind). Pretty good book. The heroine is a bit too innocent and gullible for comfort, but she comes around, thankfully! The fantasy frame of the witchy-helpers is a bit unecessary, I thought...
