Also looking for a book..
I saw that someone posted a thread like this and due to the vast knowledge of everyone they found the book she was looking for. Hopefully it will work again - Fingers crossed. I hope I can explain it well enough.
The book I am looking for is about a woman who moves to a small town and buys a rundown house. Everyone in the town looks at her excitedly and whispers until she finally gets told that she is the spitting image of a woman who used to live in the town, and that she should meet "the hero" because they would hit it off. The reason she is being paired up with him is because as the story goes the soul mates keep coming here to meet. And they always resemble one another ( the men and women look the same as the generations before them). The town is excited because they knew of the hero, but were impaitent for the woman to show up cause she was taking longer then they'd expected or something and they were starting to lose hope.. at one point while cleaning out the house she sees a ghost if I remember correctly and he looks just like the hero. I am probably doing this story a horrible injustice but I remember really loving it. Very cool how the soul mates always found each other in the town.
