New Releases

This group is for anyone who loves to scour the New Release section of bookstores and libraries. I bring home some wonderful books and some real duds. I would like this to be a place to discuss all the new stuff : what you think looks good, what you've read, what you've liked or disliked. New Releases would be hardback, softback and paperback...more »

July reads
Started by BeckyL, Friday, June 27 2008. Last post Tuesday, July 1 2008.

All inclusive - what are you reading, what have you read and what did you think about them, and what are you planning on reading this month.

This week, I've got Iris and Roy Johansen's Silent Thunder and Madeline Wickham's Sleeping Arrangments to read. These will be my first official July reads. I don't have my list in front of me but will add the upcoming releases that I am excited about in just a few days.

New Releases in July that I want to read are:
The Dangerous Days of Daniel X by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge
The Map Thief by Heather Terrell
Somebody Else's Daughter by Elizabeth Brundage
And I still haven't gotten to read very many of the June books I wanted, especially
The Idiot Girl and the Flaming Tantrum of Death: Reflections on Revenge, Germophobia, and Laser Hair Removal by Laurie Notaro.

What I have sitting around the house that I still need to read:
Child 44
The Blue Star
A Foreign Affair
Chasing Harry Winston
The Girl Who Stopped Swimming
The Prince of Frogtown

I did get some reading done this month, I recently finished The Sugar Queen and didn't like it nearly as much as Garden Spells, although it was OK.
