    What I'm reading now...

I'm reading Up Country and then I'll read Mein Kampf after that. I have just started Up Country, but so far I am liking it. It has made me interested from the first paragraph, but not in an edge-of-your-seat kind of way; more of a personal kind of way.

I've stopped reading Up Country. It simply drags on and on with no action. And Susan seems very fake. I started Mein Kampf, but returned it to the library, because I wasn't ready to start that one yet. I'm now reading Behind the Lines by Andrew Carroll.

Hi bookworm_sub! I haven't been on in a while - holidays and other stuff. I'm reading several books at once. One I found in the library: Chrysalis; Maria Sibylla Merian and the Secrets of Metamorphosis by Kim Todd. A true story about a lady who traveled from Amsterdam to South America to study metamorphosis. In 1699, no less! A woman waay ahead of her time. Fascinating. Also plodding thru Reality Dysfunction Part 1: Emergence. On the recommendation of a friend who loved it. I'm not feeling it so much - usually love sifi - but out of respect I am going to continue. I'm halfway already, anyhow! Two more in my pile are both Christmas books (yeah, I like to strrrretch the season out - maybe a bit too much!). They are A War of Gifts by Orson Scott Card (he almost never disappoints and I wanted to see what he'd do with a Christmas tale), and An Idiot Girl's Christmas by Laurie Notaro ( hilarious). I had a real dry spell for a while, and couldn't find a good book. And the holidays approached with attendant parties and festivities and such. At last, in the new year I think I've found some goodies! I'm looking forward to finding out what good stuff you have found, too.

I'm new to the group and hoping that others here will enjoy or have enjoyed the books I do. John Donne: the Reformed Soul by John Stubbs is keeping me occupied these days. I've always know Donne for his poetry but not for anything else. This book presents a different side of Donne and the 16/17th centuries.
