Any thougs about Kim Harrison?
Started by Robyn , Sunday, May 11 2008. Last post 10 days ago.

I love her latest books, but a lot of nay-sayers think that she is "soft" vampire fiction because it's not incredibly, gut wrenchingly gory. Any thoughts?

well I don't really class her as vampire fiction because the main focus is on the witch and not Ivy.

oops - sorry about the spelling. That would be "thoughts". And true, it is more focused on the witch, but it seems the mentality is that if there's a vampire ANYWHERE (lurking around even - lol) it suddenly becomes vampire fiction *cough no cough*

I look forward to each new book from Kim. The main focus may be on the witch but there is plenty of 'sexual tension" with the vamps.

I've read only a couple of her books. I am still undecided about them. The storyline hasn't 'grabbed' me (or should that be 'bitten' me!) and perhaps because it is more about witches than vamps. I kinda read them waiting for some real tension within the characters, a hot romance or the like, and nothing seems to come through. But as I said, I am not through the series so perhaps I'm jumping the gun!

i love kim harrison and although the main character is a witch she incorporates many fantasy characters in her stories. jinx has to be my favorite character. i love his sarcasm. my only complaint with her plots is they sometimes seem to parallel lkh's anita blake series.
