Which book/ series would you like to see as a movie?

    Save Changes Cancel
I wonder which book or series y'all would love to see as a series or movie? I know Sookie is up and Elrod's books as well...and then we have the Dresden files on SciFi, but other than them?

Personnaly I would love to Stepahanie Meyer's books as movies. I would probalby hate having Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood as series/ movies since it's hard to find actors that big and that menacing...and those who are tend to be not that good actors...

    So come on; hit me!

I guess the book I would like to see turned into a movie isn’t technically about Vampires. It’s about addicts that have found that being high on blood is the greatest drug you can find. I think Jonathan Nasaws The World On Blood would make a really good movie. I can’t really think of any paranormals I would like to see on the big screen. I would kind of like to see the Carpathians or the Dark Hunters as a miniseries but I would probably hate the show.

I'm always alttle shakey to answer this one.. Anne Rice's books got made into a movie and look what happen... they got destroyed they left half the book out or added something that should not be there. But if I was to pick one.. I would want Susan Sizemores Prime Series to become a series on HBO or Showtime or something. I think they would be hot lol.

The Primes would actually make good movies or series, since they are more mundane in a way than the many other vampire stories

In fairness, IWTV wasn't that bad--yeah, it left out A LOT...but it wasn't NEARLY as bad as QOTD--they should've created the movies for TVL & QOTD way before the rights were about to expire--that way the movie(s) wouldn't have been so bad! Who tries to cram TWO books into one movie anyway?!

I agree that the movie of Interview with a Vampire was BAD, BAD, BAD!! No way was the casting of Tom Cruise a good thing - he's not sexy enough to be that character. Also, I hated that they changed the reason for Louis depression at the beginning. They also took a scene from The Vampire Lestat (where his Mom cuts her hair off, only to have it grow right back) and through it in.

Right now, a group of us at work are really into the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I love the books but can't see them as films. There aren't any actors that big.

For a light funny movie, MaryJanice Davidson would be good.
But I would really like to see Charlie Huston's Allready Dead, Joe Pitt would be a charasmatic character to see on the big screen.

Yes, we have the SciFi channel and I did watch The Dresden Files and totally loved it! I also loved Blood Ties, so much so that I couldn't read the books...lol!

About a month or so ago, I gave up TV totally so that I could read more books. I went for like two weeks with no tube. Then a movie came in and I found the time to watch. Talk about feeling funny watching instead of reading.

When enough time goes by, I'll get the books and read them. I've heard The Dresden Files in book form are better. Blood Ties follows the book too perfect.

Bitten was suppose to be turned into a movie, but Warner Brothers dropped it. I think they dropped it because it was suppose to come out at the same time as Blood & Chocolate. I wish someone else would pick it up, I would far rather see a bitten movie than Blood & Chocolate.

I know I am not joining in by saying this ----but, I really don't want any of my vampire books made into movies - I have a mental picture of how they look and just not sure if a movie could do them justice. I have seen a many a good book made into a movie that just didn't do the book justice.

I just don't know that they could do the Dark Hunters justice or even the Carpathians.

I know what you mean, but at the same time it could be fun. In a horrible and embarrisng way...even though I wasn't that fond of Lord of the Rings, Jackson made a good triology of that, so why couldn't someone do a good vampire movie?

Tanya Huff's Blood Books don't go along with Blood Ties, and b/c of that, I like them both! lol. They're similar, but not the same. The very first story of hers and the first episode of Blood Ties were the same, and I saw little differences between the two, but I'm not complaining, especially since I have a face for Henry...
I've heard a lot of talk about LKH's Anita series being made into a movie. I think it would be great to see how it would turn out. I just wouldn't want to be disappointed b/c I know a lot people hate how Anne Rice's movies turned out. (never read the books, but the movies were okay).
Other than that? I agree that MJD's Queen Besty books would be good on screen, but maybe a HBO or Showtime series? I think with series', you would HAVE to put them into TV series. The movies just wouldn't be able to capture everything. :-)

I would like to see some Anita Blake books get made into movies. A couple of my friends and I have discussed that and actually thought of actors to play some of the roles.

I think that the Vampire Huntress books by LA Banks would be great. Damali is such a strong character and the music/spoken word would be nice.

Another great series would be The Shadow Saga by Christopher Golden.

Te Dresden Files on Sci-Fi were cool, which is what made me read all the books. Loved them! Harry has to be one of my favorite fictional characters. Too bad Sci-Fi dropped the show. A lot of books-to-movies don't work very well because they are trying to cram a weeks worth of action into 2 hours. And a lot of them, I think, if you see the movie/tv series first, and THEN read the books, you might like them a lot better. I think if I had read the dresden files before watching the series, I would have been disappointed by what was changed, but this way I think I appreciate the problems with changing a book into a live action production.

They are making a movie adaption of Twilight with Cedric Diggory from Harry Potter as Edward. I don't have very high hopes for it.

I loved Blood Ties and hope they don't end up canceling the series so soon!

I do have to say though, since the books are aimed at teenagers, seeing the movie might make teenagers want to read the books. I know some kids that never would have picked up the Harry Potter books if they hadn't seen the movie. And anything that gets kids into reading is worth a shot!
Though, I will agree that's not how I pictured Edward either, but who knows? Hollywood can do amazing things with makeup and special effects. :-)

Either Poppy Z. Brite's Lost Souls (suggested director, Rob Zombie) or Anne Rice's Blackwood Farm. I realize it isn't wholly a vampire novel, but I love the story anyway. It meshes both worlds (her vamps and her witches) and it's just a beautifully crafted piece. (suggested director, Clint Eastwood).
